Review Summary: Ingested performed this EP amazingly, mashing together misanthropic lyrics and vile vocals with the Slams they are known for.

Ingested has been around for a while, creating disturbing music while adding in Slams. Of course, the release of The Surreption was one of their selling points to me. I didn't get into Surpassing the Boundaries of Human Suffering until recently, and now I love it. So when Revered By No One, Feared By All was released, I had hopes of a StBoHS mixed with The Surreption. To be honest, we didn't really get that, but their new style is greatly appreciated anyways.

Overall, the EP is filled with Jason Evans screaming about how you're just a nuisance to the eradication of the human race. Of course, even though he's screaming way more than before, he still brings in his gutturals. The lyrical content is misanthropic, speaking about how a child became basically death incarnate. He grew up after being subjected to hate and became the definition of mass extinction. The rhymes in this whole album are actually well-placed and performed. It's like taking a ton of words that rhyme, and creating the most hateful verses with all of them. Basically, it's amazing.

The guitars are a lot like The Surreption with a bit more bite. The Slams are a lot better than the ones that randomly appeared in The Surreption, but they obviously weren't anything to StBoHS. Bringing the atmosphere of annihilation, the guitars provide the image necessary without knowing the lyrics.

The drums obviously are filled with massive amount of kick. There are blast beats, but not as many as StBoHS, so if you really get sold on the blasts, it might not be the best for you. It compliments the Slams, and it brings a chaotic rhythm to destroy your ear drums.

So, in short, Ingested is amazing. The only reason I didn't give the album a 5 was due to the fact that sometimes it felt a little excessive. The lyrics were amazing, yet they were missing something. I also was still hoping for a bit more StBoHS type influences, but beggars can't be choosers. Especially not when they're releasing the Architect of Extinction early next year!

In short, the review needs work. It definitely reads like you're just chatting away about how much you like this band and not as an actual review. You don't go into very much detail at all about the music, enhanced by how short it is.

For starters, "Slams" should be lower case ("slams"). Also put "" around song titles. I'd recommend album titles in italics, but leave the band name alone.

You compare everything to the band's previous releases in place of more apt comparisons to other similar artists, or an actual description of sound.

You say "basically" a lot, which I don't think sounds good in a review, especially not in abundance. Sounds amateur.

Don't write a review as a fan. Write it as someone analyzing the music, including positives and negatives, the latter of which were almost nonexistent in this write up.

Do some research by reading some staff reviews before you try your next review. Not gonna neg but take my criticism and try to improve.

Thank you for your feedback. I accept all types of criticism for it all can be constructive.

In terms of comparing to other artists, I feel as though that is overused. I compare it with the older material the band creates since they are not other bands. To me, it's comparing apples to oranges. Ingested is very unique to me, and that is why I never compared them to others. Now, if the members were a part of a band that was similar, as with Travis Ryan being in Murder Construct and Cattle Decapitation, that'd be grounds to compare, no doubt. However, I would not compare a whole band with a different band unless it has no previous material that is similar (Fallujah's change). Matti Way may have been in Pathology and Abominable Putridity, but I would only compare his vocals in each and then leave the rest as a group review.

We all have our different ways of doing things, though, and I thank you for some great feedback. I ensure you I will be adding negatives and taking more time with my reviews. I will also spread out the timeframe taken since I am always tired and it causes me to forget or not put in the right type of effort. Again, thank you for your advice and criticism.
