Review Summary: To progress in life is to change....
Allow me to state the following: I do enjoy some technical crops. While, listening to music i have dreams of becoming as skillful as the guys i adore on my own guitar. But, it comes to a certain realization that in order for me to better i must experiment with new styles. Fallujah, has done just that. Initially starting as a deathcore band to a full tech death band has given this band more attention especially for fans of the Faceless.
Fallujah "The Flesh Prevails" is the sophmore album of the popular San-Francisco death metal band. This has been hyped quite a bit since the digital release of the "Nomadic" ep. So, how does this fair to their previous releases. It's good to say the least. The problems this album runs into the production of the album. It is compressed as much as the coils inside of your mattress. For example tracks such as "Starlight Path" gives the listener such a beautiful atmosphere to listen to but then followed with a wall of sound. It sounds artificial and straws the out of the experience.
Vocalist, Alex Hofmann grows are standard for this genre. He is not going to vow you but it's fitting for the album. Lyrically, extremely average and not thought-inducing. The bass and guitar tone are sharp and technical as they always were but that's about it.
Fallujah, does avoid the sophmore slump for sure but there is more room for improvement.
