Many people believe that Led Zeppelin's last great album was Physical Graffiti and the last 3 albums ( In Through The Out Door, Presense and Coda) conatain nothing too spectacular and are not worth listening to. I beg to differ, how can you love the songs: "Fool in the rain", "Poor Tom" or "Darlene", but im here to talk about Presence so here we go.

This album was made in a time when Zeppelin was experimenting with their music, unlike their previous albums thay used neither an acustic guitar or organ. The first song, "Achilles Last Stand", ranks right up there with "Stairway to Heaven" as one of their greatest songs Zeppelin ever created and is one of my altime favourites with a driving drum beat and penetraiting guitar used in an almost bluesy way but not quite what we have come to expect from them.

"For Your Life" shows Zeppelin's true blues roots, my absolute favorite part of this song is when you reach the 2 1/2 min. mark and Plant sings: "do you wanna, do you wanna do it when you wanna" and the the kind of cool riff that only Zeppelin could do that goes with it.

"Royal Orleans", What a cool song, so funky it makes you want to get up and dance, and a pure blues guitar solo that makes u fall in love with the song. Enough said

"Nobody's Fault but Mine", at first you think it will be one of the slower songs on the album but with Boneham's firm PAA! on the snare drum you know it with be much cooler.

O baby baby what a song "Candy Store Rock" is, its another of those songs that just makes you want to dance, but probably one of the weaker songs on the album, there is no real definition to it.

"Hots on For Nowhere" incorporates that signature stop start action and matching guitar and drum that Zeppelin has quite obviously mastered and if you dont believe me then listen to "Black Dog". "Nobody's Fault But Mine" also uses the same style of playing. One more thing about "Hots on For Nowhere" that I love are harmonies and near the end of this song and also how it tricks you with the ending, i just think thats really cool.

The final song, "Tea For One", starts off with some of the best riffing you will ever hear but then slows down into this really emotional bluesy song that may take you a few listens to really get into it but once you do you'l love it

recomended songs:
Achillies Last Stand
Royal Orleans
Hots On For NoWhere
Tea For One

Meh. It's alright. I've never heard this album but I'm just checking out the new reviews.

You started out great, but then dropped like a bag of rocks as soon as you got to the actual reviewing of the songs. A little more depth and better spelling will be better. You're grammar was pretty bad too.

Decent review for a first. I've seen worse. And welcome to Sputnik!

Pretty good review. I've been getting really into the album lately and plan to write a review myself. Props on writing even a little bit on every song, that's important. I love Candy Store Rock, for some reason no one else seems to like it but I love it. Right now the weakest track for me is Hots On For Nowhere just because the lyrics are sub-par IMO, but it's still a good song. I went on such a Royal Orleans streak for a while. Achille's Last Stand and Nobody's Fault But Mine are both great long songs, and it's all awesome raw, bluesy hard rock. I personally consider Presence and In Through The Out Door almost like yin and yang, the final two Zep albums, opposite but in harmony  I'm a fanboy I know.

You might want to spell-check a bit though, and maybe add a little more meat.

This is a dismal effort by Zep. Certainly not supurb as the rating given. And I'm not one who believes the last three albums were bad efforts, as In Through The Outdoor is one of my favorite Zep albums. But not everything Zep did turned to gold, and this album, recorded when the band was something of a mess, is a dreary rehash of past Zep glories that completely misses the mark. Double meh...

Achilles Last Stand is the only song I've checked out off this album, and it is easily my favourite Led Zeppelin song. I guess I should check this album out someday.

You're probably thinking about the breakdown in "Achilles" using those really quick staccato notes like TMV are prone to using (specifically in the intro to "Eriatarka").

Yeah, I love "Achilles Last Stand" as well. Who doesn't?

Not their best, but still underrated.
Nobody's Fault is well worth a listen for the groove.
Achilles always struck me as bit too thick on the guitar sound, as good as it is, it feels a bit too weighted down at times.
Tea For One: one of the most, if not *the* most underrated Zep songs of all time

Achilles Last Stand is one of the most underrated classic rock songs ever. It's pretty freakin' great.

The test of a great song: can you strip it down and play it live?
Achilles passes with flying colours from the Knebworth footage...

My favorite Zeppelin album at one point. They all have been actually. Interchangable and such. Pretty good first review by the way.

I've yet to hear the entire album. Achilles Last Stand is great though, as many people were already saying.

And as for the Mars Voltra coincidence, I agree with Mr. Avatar. I think I read an interview with them stating they were Zeppelin fans.

this is the first zeppelin album i ever owned and was well worth the purchase. Achilles

Last Stand is the best song on here as every member of the band contributes to the

song and gives it their all i love the way plants voice sounds nd the meaty bass and

that killer guitar riff as well as bomhams explosive drum beat i love this album!!!

Indeed this album owns. Was also my first Zep album I bought. Achilles Last Stand could be Zep's heaviest song. Without a doubt in my top 5 of favorite songs by them.

Hots On for Nowhere always seemed like it was rushed and has that "filler song" feel to it for me, I love every other song in the album. That one never did it for me.

Love Hots on for Nowhere. Can't really say there's any weak songs on here, maybe just some that are less amazing than others haha.
