Story of the Year is a free spirited group of five that hails from St. Louis. They are classified under the same area as My Chemical Romance/The Used, and yet seem to barely resemble the two. Their first album, Page Avenue, is a superb effort. It combines the nu-metal head-bashing and screaming vocals with emotional lyrics and heavy guitar riffs. However, the riffs in this album tend to be a bit more "popish" than heavy at times. Even so, they are by no means a pop band. The album opener, "And the Hero Will Drown," is a thrashing, hardcore screaming song that really shows of their love of jamming. Softer songs such as "Sidewalks" show the band's emotional, creative lyrics and much calmer side. The drummer provides fast, powerful beats which keep the songs alive. All of this combined with quick-changing riffs, good bass playing and melodic singing make this album a keeper.

Story of the Year is:
Dan Marsala: Vocals
Ryan Philips: Guitar
Philip Sneed: Guitar, Vocals
Adam Russell: Bass
Josh Wills: Drums
