Review Summary: An intense and massive experience that is impossible to take in one listen.
Lil B is an interesting artist. Half of the time he creates thought provoking, lyrical rap music. Other times, he creates music for the sole purpose of comedy and positivity. He's also super prolific, having released over 30 mixtapes in the span of three years. He has so much music that it's pretty much impossible to not like at least ONE of his songs.
While most of his mixtapes or albums usually span from 15 - 30 songs (which is still a lot) this one spans a whole 100 tracks. This is a pretty strange artist statement. Many people think the length of the mixtape is just a gimmick, but actually, this may be possibly the greatest mixtape of 2013.
With 100 tracks, there's bound to be one that you like. It doesn't even matter what type of rap you like. If you like trap music (Chief Keef, Gucci Mane) you'll like hard hitting bangers like "Lick a Shot," "Simple Math," and "Gutta Work." If you like relaxing, lyrical rap, you'll enjoy many songs such as "Rob the Jeweler," "Dear Mama," and "Dope Lines."
There are so many good songs on here ranging from trap to cloud to old school to many other types of rap. There are truly many standouts on this amazing mixtape.
One of these is the 10 minute long "God of Rap," mixing 3 different beats into one story about how Lil B took the crown and made himself king of rap. "Gotta Pay Me" is a relaxing song with mystifying 80's based production. There are many others.
One of the best parts about the album is the production and the beat selection. The beats are very well done and are some of the best i've ever heard. Songs like "Waddup," "Ellen Degeneres Remix," "Landlord, "Bar Mitzvah," and more songs have stunning beats.
Another stand out feature about this album is the lyricism. Many subjects ranging from positivity to the life of a drug dealer to building schools for children are all presented in this prolific album. Songs like "Motivation Remix," "Snitch," "I'm Gunna Be A Doctor," and "Free The World" have thought provoking lyricism and some very interesting topics to explore.
However, not all songs on here are good. There are a couple annoying or not interesting tracks on here, as expected from such a gigantic tape. For example, the first eight songs might not be your taste. Or some songs in the middle might be repetitive.
Overall, this truly spectacular offering given to us for free is worth the half gigabyte on the computer. This isn't just a mixtape; it's an experience. And while it starts off slow, it turns into a grand, almost sinister listening experience.
