Review Summary: An awesomely energetic album with some great lyrics.
PART 1/3
We start off strong with an awesome song. “2,000 Light Years Away” The lyrics may not be very deep, but the instrumentation is what makes this song awesome. The drums rolls are fantastic, bass line is thumping and powerful, the guitar just being rocking. Thought the guitar is kind of hard to “understand”.
“One For The Razorbacks” little slower. The lo-fi guitar doesn't really sound as good with this one as it did with the previous. The verse is a bit weak, but the chorus is so fun and catchy. Just a fun little song.
“Welcome To Paradise”Raw. Bille sounds like he is really feeling these lyrics, and though it may be a little flat, he still really sings these. The bass line is fantastic, definitely the best part of the song. And the bass solo is so cool, it really has a lot of energy in it. Everything about this one is raw. One of the best on the album.
“Christie Road”, starts off a little iffy, but the thumping bass line and energetic drums really moves this one along. The lyrics are kinda simple, but they quite retable. And when the songs speeds up just everything goes right. Everything steps up its game here, including the guitar.
“Private ale” really isnt to good on its own, put it works really well as a peace in an album. It is very well written and helps add to the albums theme, which i will discuss later. The guitar gets better here, and the bass is so raw. It is very catchy and i’ve caught myself singing along with it multiple songs.
Dominated Love Slave is just a joke song. And it really helps to tone down the seriousness of this album. And hey the bass is cool here.

PART 2
Side 2 opens with a catchy little song “One Of Our Lies”. The lyrics are good, and adds to the albums charm. The guitar kinda slips down and the bass takes a front step on this one, and the bass part is definitely better than the guitar part.
80 starts off with a great opening line that hooks you write along. The song then becomes more energetic after the opening, and all the instruments get very good together. The tone of the lyrics and song go hand and hand go perfect in this great song.
Next up is Android. Man, this may be the best song on the album. The extremely catchy and energetic instrumentation go perfect with the lyrics. The lyrics are funny, but actually kinda deep if you think about them. This song is just a pleasure to listen to, and is probably one of my favorite songs ever. This song is where I thought up the theme/story that Green Day may have intentionally put along with the album. Can’t get enough of this song. Everything about it is perfect even the goofy sound effects in the bridge.
No one knows, is kind of the same as "One For The RazorBacks" in that it sounds with great with the album. It may be slow, but the lyrics are great. Tre’s drumming isn't as energetic as it normally is, but its a slow song so it works. Billy's guitar works well in the song, and mikes bass line keeps this track good.
As this song fades and the next song “Who Wrote Holden Caulfield” starts out slow but then it becomes catchy, fun and energetic. Very relatable lyrics, and the bass line again is fantastic and raw.
The next song starts off well, and then moves into a catchy jittery and fun song. Perfect closer to the true album (for those who do not know, tracks 13-16 were from a separate ep that was added to the album when it got released on cd. )
End of part 2 5/5
So heres the theme, “growing up and facing the world” I know many artist who have a couple songs about the topic but this one tells it in a narrative. It starts out with the youthful “2000 light years away.”, but the second song states “ok maybe being in a relationship may have its downside.” Track 3 says “Woh, this is real life, its not good”. Track 4 is “ Real life is boring” Track 5 is saying “where am I going, no i shouldn't think about this, hey look its my crush, there i'm not worrying. Track 5 is just there to make things seem lighter. Track 7 says “Man, i thought as a kid being a grown up would be better”. Track 8 is “being in a serious relationship can suck and be confusing.” Android says “Where am I headed? I am going to turn out like some crazy old people before I even know it” Track 10 is “what is going on in my life? Just what?”. Track 11 is hard to explain with the story, but it's kind of “I'm lazy, and i'm going to be like this, ah it's okay. And track 12 is “ This is life I’m going to deal with it.” See this album tells a better story to me than the green day albums that are supposed to have one. This tells a story of growing up and I love it but thats just a theory.
PART 3/3
Well the sweet children ep included with it sounds kinda the same. But I love every second of this. The guitar is just fantastic, great punk. I love the rocking style of this ep.
4.8/5
Final Thoughts
I loved this album for its rocking guitar, thumping bass lines, and energetic guitar. The theme in this album is great, and the lyrics are some of green day's best. Better than the previous and only a smidge behind the successor.
