Review Summary: Real Friends are Tumblrs next "it" band, though it seems they are forcing themselves to be that.
"I don't wanna be jealous of the trees next to my neighbor's garage anymore"
Real Friends. They're awkward, shy, and a little bit like you. Well, that's what they're going for at least. This is a four song acoustic EP that starts off with Never Been Home, a cute little song about being a ***ed up, homesick kid who lives at home. Sometimes it feels like Real Friends are trying to be the at the moment Tumblr band. Void of writing lyrics that have any personal meaning, and more like they are trying to connect with that awkward fifteen year old girl whose just out of her scene stage. Anchor Down and Floorboards are so similar sounding that if you aren't paying close attention you might thing they're the same song. Floorboards offers up the infamous "sleepy eyes and bony knees" lyric that are now almost as famous as Defend Pop Punk's logo in the pop-punk community. While this EP is nothing new at all, its catchy and that was exactly Real Friends purpose for doing this. While it also treads into some familiar territory, Real Friends have set themselves up to pop-punks next in demand band.
