Review Summary: Capture the Crown steps up their music showing they are better than what people think.

Capture the Crown just released their new EP "Live Life" which I was on the edge of not getting it, because everyone knows how "Til Death" turned out. Don't get me wrong I thought the album was good for a first time album, but they had a lot of pressure from the start with a music video that got way to much attention. But the "new" Capture the Crown is improved in this EP with a lot less auto-tune and with lyrics that can get pretty catchy, it really surprised me! I thought it was a new band personally.

Let's start off talking about the lyrics, which I was shocked how much they didn't overuse the same words. The lyrics actually had meaning to them this time around, except in "live Life" which always got away from the point at one point calling life a oyster, then the next minute they are telling you to go back to the farm sheep? I didn't understand that, but other then that the lyrics were a big improvement. The best lyrically written song on this EP is "REBEARTH" which talks about the world being in their hands, and uniting together. But overall the lyrics are good on the whole EP.

My favorite thing about this EP is the lack of auto-tune, I couldn't personally be happier to hear no overpowering unrealistic singing. It's still there don't get me wrong, but to a certain degree its appropriate to use. "Bloodsuckers" is a good song because of the clean vocals and unnoticeable auto-tune. The time of extreme auto-tune is in the past for these guys now. Now is the time with clean vocals and not so clean vocals (but still compliment the songs).

The electronics are improved a lot from the first album, which harassed electronic instruments making in too much to listen to the ACTUAL instruments. But in this EP they show that electronics can be used to make a song enjoyable, at the same time not abusing it. I'm very happy to see they can change in a short time from "what the hell is this?" to "Dang this is sick!". But nothing is guaranteed with what the whole album will be like with electronics. But everything else I think they are getting the hang of.

To talk a little more about the instrumental use, they still use the same general aspect of guitar riffs and breakdowns as before. Although since being able to hear them more clearly as I said before, you can hear the guitar slaughter small solo's throughout songs, which helps go with the chugging guitar, but also could be overused at certain parts in some of the songs like "bloodsuckers" and the drummer does a exceptional job at showing his potential on some of the songs his best work being on song "all Hype all night" where he does some fantastic drumming to set the tone for the next 4 minutes. They definitely put more effort into the instruments this time around. With the beautiful guitar and drums the bass can go unnoticed at times, but the bass when heard is really good too.

Capture the Crown shows a lot of potential as a band in the future, but they are a long way from that. For now they will be a band that a lot of people will think sounds like every other post-hardcore band. But eventually the spot light will be on them as a premiere band.

Recommended songs:
-Bloodsuckers
-REBEARTH

Not an overly bad review or a first, but it is riddled with errors. Won't pos or neg, but I also must say that I strongly doubt that this is anything over a 2. The singles alone were bad enough to give it that.

Damn, those harsh vocals, especially the ridiculous high screams, are so awful. The cleans, in all honesty, aren't too bad, but don't redeem this at all. The instrumentation is too generic to even comment on.
