Milligram Smile
Alive Out Of Habit
The After Dinner Payback - A great intro to the band, showing how they can be "heavy", while pulling of TBS esque melodic parts. Very good, intense and a great opener.
Lilacs & Lolita - Starts with a cool guitar intro, then the rumbling double bass comes in, and the singer starts shouting. Then they break into another melodic part, with beautiful singing. The verses are quite heavy, but provide a good contrast for the chorus.
No Trivia - Starts with a delicate guitar part, with the bass guitar underneath, and the singer as well. Then breaks down into another melodic part. One of the less heavy songs on the album, it has no screaming, but it's still good. Seems longer than it actually is, though.
Milligram Smile - Here the album goes back to the screaming/shouting parts, and the singer is once again put into the background, apart from at some parts which sounds like TBS. Good guitar work in the chorus, mind. Has a beautiful part with an acoustic guitar towards the end, very good :)
The Second Wrong Makes You Feel Right - Starts of with the singer again, then goes into a pulsing part, with a fitting bass line and some weird guitar effects (for a bit). The main problem I have with this song is the fact that it drags on a bit. The parts with the screaming are better, though.
Every Reason To - Ah, this is what I like, a faster song. Cool, "Alexisonfire" style screaming in the background, with standard singing in the foreground.
Good, "emotional" guitar parts as well.
Autumns Monologue - Weird song. Has a female singer, sounds like one of those singer/songwriter type people. Mind you, it's an OK song, it just doesn't really fit the album that well. This is the kind of song Avril wishes she could make :)
Alive Out Of Habit - Back to normal :p Another OK song, kind of drags on again, but it's actually good, with classic "emo" guitar riffs, and great interaction between the two vocalists.
All I Taste Today Is What's Her Name - Starts intensely, with double bass, screaming and weird "metal" guitar sounds. Then breaks down into a rumbling bass part. Afterwards, and uplifting guitar part comes, with acoustic in the background. This song is pretty similar to the others, though.
The Fiction We Live - The shortest song on the album. It's more or less Autumns Monologue with a male singer. It's an Ok song, but Autumns Monologue is better.
I'm the Best At Ruining My Life - Starts with an intense part, then breaks in with a bit of distorted vocals. Kind of escapes from the main formula on the album, the singing isn't as melodic. The chorus is quite catchy, without going into disposable pop song territory. A good way to end the album :)
Overall, I think this is a good album. It has the classic elements that Emocore should hae in it. However, if you don't like this genre, this CD certainly won't change your' mind as it dosen't add anything terribly new to the fold. So, a good album, but not for everyone......
