Review Summary: Warning, prolonged exposure may cause melting of the face.

Lamb of god are one of the only metalcore bands that I truly appreciate. Their crushing guitar riffs and face melting vocals really are some of the best in their genre. Resolution is their seventh album, and for the most part it's business as usual. There some experimentation, but they don't do anything drastically different from their previous works.

In terms of experimentation, there's an acoustic intro on Ghost Walking (One of my favourite songs) and spoken word verses on King Me. But that's it. It doesn't really make any impact, but they're nice touches.

The album begins with Straight For The Sun. Randy screams "GO!" and that kicks everything off, with a slow doomy riff to compliment it. One thing that sets aside Lamb Of God from the other metalcore bands is the lyrics. Instead of singing about failed romances and how much they want to kill themselves, they sing about more mature themes, such as drug abuse and warfare, to name a few.

King Me is the final track, and it is the longest on the album. It features not only spoken word verses, but female background vocals and strings. The Undertow features one of the best solos in any Lamb Of God song.

The raw production really compliments the brutality of the songs, making Lamb Of God a force to be reckoned with. The problem with other Lamb Of God albums is that the songs aren't as memorable as they should be, and that certainly isn't an issue here. Listen to Guilty and try not to sing (Or scream) along. I dare you.

The only small issue I have with this album is that the buzz you get from the album when you're listening to it wears off soon after it's finished. That's not to say it isn't memorable, you just lose the initial excitement. This may sound stupid but give the album a spin and you'll understand where I'm coming from.

I almost forgot to mention the clean vocals at the start of Insurrection too. That's something never before seen in a Lamb Of God song. The first time I heard it I wasn't a huge fan, but as i listened to it more and more, it eventually grew on me.

So overall, this is Lamb Of God firing on all cylinders. With a bit of experimentation here and there, some heavy as hell vocals and guitar and machine gun drumming, Lamb Of God show the imitators how it's done and prove that they are still one of the most brutal bands in the industry.

Good review, and I was surprised at how much I enjoyed this album after being bored by everything since Ashes. This is kinda silly though:

I would say for future reference, try to find ways to distance yourself from using "I" statements as much, and maybe move towards describing things in third person.

In terms of format, don't capitalize the first words in parenthesis. It might not hurt to put song titles in quotes as well.

And yeah, "failed romances and how much they want to kill themselves," is a pretty sweeping generalization, and an incorrect one, too.
