Combing a mixture of hip hop, pop, funk and pop rock, Bonde da Stronda deserves congratulations on originality. A Profecia shows a bit more maturity personal/musical of the group, compared to their previous works. Some songs like “Esbórnia e Álcool” “Cashman” and “O Bagulho è muito Louco” are more true to classic style of the group, with a contagious rhythm, singing about partying and sex. Bonde da Stronda stepped out of the cliché scene of Brazil, and shows a totally different style, that works perfectly. They got enough musical toughness to satisfy the alternative cravings. Everything that Bonde da Stronda were able to accomplish, in both tone and texture goes so far beyond of the most other bands or singers in brazil, that it is unfair to compare anyone to them.
The lyrical abilities all throughout the álbum are just amazing. Mr. Thug goes from singing a perfect harmony to the rapping. As you see in most romantic pop songs like "Garotas", "Encaixe Perfeito" and "Paixão". So go to "Minha Voz, Minha Vida" and "A Profecia", and you lose your mind. Stands out "KingStar" brings back Bonde da Stronda featuring Mr. Catra. Recalling the hit "Mansão Thug Stronda", the mixing of hip hop with the power funk by Catra, again yielded an optimal mix.
At some tracks along the CD they demonstrate the dramatic side of their career, like all people who discredited their talent and the difficulty of a successful music career in Brazil. As the quotes from "Minha Voz, Minha Vida", 'Não foi tranquilo não, foi com muita correria/ Sem um show, sem contato, reunindo minhas dores/ Eu fui humilhado por fracos produtores' (It was not quiet, it was with much effort/ Without a concert, without contact, gathering my pains/ I was humbled by weak producers)
There have been some complaints about the album, but it shows an act of biased opinions by people who cannot see anything new or different. I think, A Profecia as a whole is a remarkable album and something I feel Bonde da Stronda should be proud of.
