Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots is an extremely bizarre and odd title for an album. Perhaps one of the strangest album titles that I have ever heard, but don't let that fool you. The music is ultra mellow and features various electronic effects along with soft beats and acoustic guitars. 'Fight Test' 'Do You Realize' and 'Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots Pt1.' are the poppiest, and most electronica influences tracks off the album. I enjoy these the most because they are fun to sing along to and have a very mellow yet upbeat nature. There are two instrumentals off of here, the strange battle between Yoshimi and the Robots and the spacey, jazzy closer 'Approaching Pavonis Mons by Balloon.' My main problem with this album is that is can almost be to mellow and there isn't enough substance. 'All We Have is Now' can easily be classified as filler and 'In the Morning of the Magicians' is a bit of a stretch reaching over six minutes long. While Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots is a fun, upbeat album it has its fair share of boring and dull moments.
