Review Summary: An amazing, breathtaking view from one of Black Metals greatest composers.

Black metal is an interesting genre offering moments of darkened moods that individuals can't find in other musical avenues. Its inception began with the growing trend of rock artists and underground punk acts trying to create a new sound. A raw'er sound to impress the need to honest yet extremely forth coming. With the worlds rise of occultic practices and satanic rites, individuals needed an outlet to let their music run free while supported the dogmas once inherited. Amogst the uprise we have Paysage which is a solo black metal act with residing growths that are typical of black metal, only the music contained here is actually fresh and good and believable.

With a discography ranging from wind samples and ambient growths, Paysage created a few straight up bm albums like the well known self titled and what we have here. The techniques are rather simple yet the emotional impact is where this album could grab anyone. I'd like to mention the drums as they are sometimes quite distant which is good given the almost never ending blast beats. With the common knowledge the blasts beats are used more for an atmospheric sense; which leads to me to describe how this album should sound if you spun it. Nothing is extremely upfront. Passages usually build and design over lengthful periods rather than upfrontal attacks. This is good since Paysage is trying to infuse not burden. This album takes time and years to fully absorb and appreciate. The many tracks show a difference of tempo as well which is a nice combo for the blast beats to take it easy from time to time.

Beeing that Winterkaelte is about emotion it must be described from an emotional standpoint. When listening you may often find youself thinking about the mountains and colder regions. You may even feel a sense of depression with it but even with black metal enthusiasts there is always the purpose of a light at the end of the tunnel no matter how much they worship death and satan. What i mean is if you can find solace in death that is something good. So in order to absorb what we have here you must be accepting. I often encourange listeners to find a peaceful location with soothing atmospheric vibes. If psychedelia can be linked to bm, this album contains much of it. The ambient wind samples coupled with a relenting cold atmosphere really get you receptors firing in trance mode. I know it sounds weird but give it a shot and see that you're not be-dazzled. The screeching sreams of detestation are neither remorseful or condeming, they are downright blasphemous. You may not even know what is being said but that disdainful outcries are unmistakable. If you want black metal that is believable look no further.

I always thought the ambient parts sounded like a police chase in the distance while a man eats Doritoes in the background.
