Release Date: 2009 | Tracklist

Before releasing 2010's sophomore Prelude to Omega, Revenge actually have begun to blast Indonesian and Southeastern Asia metal scenes with their 2009's debut Global.Suffering.Disease. This debut album has made Revenge reckoned among metalheads of the country which has more than 17.000s islands. In almost six years of the formation and with only two full-length albums noted in their discography, Revenge are actually the band that you have to dig or miss. Meaning that, in the side of musical innovation (brutal death), they do not invent fresh air to the wheel. If you are familiar with the bands, say Suffocation, Disgorge, Nile, Gorod or such, Revenge also offer similar passion, style, (may be) technical, or aura from what you've ever heard from those mentioned bands. Such affirmation does not aim to say Revenge a clone band, no, obviously not! To say they have much Suffocation influences but with somewhat original touch (style), such assertion should be right because that band is indeed their hero. If you are Indonesian and even larger South Eastern Asia metal enthusiasts, you must dig Revenge, because in those geographical scales, by any chance Revenge always have possibilities to blast the city/town where you live. However, to the more global world listeners, as said before, Revenge provide no groundbreaking sound, but it's quite okay then if you are interested in tasting any other regional scene products, because every well developed metal scene relatively has own trademark.

To compare their two LPs, Global.Suffering.Disease and Prelude to Omega, probably is a fine way to describe Revenge's musical journey. Let's have their sophomore album first, it is relatively more technical and slightly melodic than the debut one, and also, it is varied in vocal patterns. Although in the side of production quality and thematic approach both albums are fairly similar, however, those who ever heard both albums, probably will agree that the debut one is more intense, brutal, and full of energy. Therefore this debut release got more love and praise from young Indo-metalheads because it represents their anger and rebellion attitude toward the corrupted government and the hypocrisy of religious institution (fuck 'em all!). Begins with track “Abhorrence”, soon you know that Revenge play brutal death at the utmost sense, no reason to say otherwise. When the opening one completely ended, the follow-on track “Abolishment of Idiosyncrasy” prepares to abolish any ridiculous k-pop's gay-ish dance replaced by a hard head-banging brutal death metal. As whole, within 30s-minute of music Revenge have managed to follow similar formulas of the first-two tracks. Yes, technically, this album is obviously well played but not too impressive due to lack of fresh innovation. However, such statement does not mean to say the album has no exciting moments; you can find nice breakdowns in track "Candle" for example, some catchy thrashy and punky beat moments in "Intuisi Kebencian", or perhaps some melodic solo parts will excite you because almost each song contains twisted solos. Yep, whatever your personal predilection of particular style of brutal death, you have to recognize first that Revenge's Global.Suffering.Disease has all standard requisites to become a good brutal death release.

Um, above all, this is great release. It was well executed by proficient musicians. You will enjoy this as you did in of any great, say, Obituary or Suffocation stuffs. Their guitarist performance would never fail you, Raja never overused both chugging and melodic solos, and all was delivered in a proportional way. His rapid riffs and leads will challenge you to head-bang even harder and faster. Behind the drums kit, Aulia gave all of his capabilities, especially his full energy so as to have a more frenetic sound, and he successfully did it. Despite vocally it is slightly monotonous, but yea, since musically it is pretty entertaining and technical, so just enjoy it!

My 41st review, a bit rushed due to football fever, but I have a good foreboding that Germany will win 4 - 1, go go der Panzer make it happens!

Your review got me interested in this album but after listening to a couple of tracks, the sloppy use of tempo and the dullness of the production have really hindered my enjoyment of its contents.
