Eighteen Visions was an American band from Orange County, California, United States, that formed in October 1995. Since their debut entitled, "Yesterday is Time Killed", they have evolved from metalcore, to post hardcore. In their self titled album they havent completely abandoned the post hardcore sound they showed in the 2004 release"Obsession", but they have taken more of an alternative metal approach. I will be doing a track by track review on the album.

1. Our Darkest Days - This is the opening track and by far one of the best they have ever produced. The best part of the song is actually the lyrics, which are very deep and meaningful. It stsarts off very slow and then about twenty seconds in it exlodes and sounds kind of like an ensuing battle and both sides are marching towards each other. It also sounds very different from the rest of the album. The only reason i dont give it a 5 is because it could have been longer. 4.5/5.

2. Victim - This is the main single off of the record. It is a very heavy, in your face, hard rock tune. Im not too crazy about it, mainly because i think the chorus is way too overdone and is repeated too much. It is really just a good song to headbang to, or to listen to when your pissed off. 3/5

3. Truth or Consequence - This is a very dark, but very catchy song. The echo in James' voice during the verses, and one of the best choruses in the album, but again it is repeated too often. 3.5/5

4. Burned us Alive - One of my least favorites in the album. The only thing i like about this song is the chorus, which is probably the best chorus in the album. 2.5/5

5. Black and Bruised - Again, the chorus is amazing but the rest of the song sorta drags. 2.5/5

6. Broken Hearted - This is a good song, but a horrible song for Eighteen Visions. It is a very catchy ballad, but kinda sappy. 3/5

7. Pretty Suicide - Cheesy, worst song on the album, end of story. 1/5

8. Coma - This song is hard for me to describe. Very dark, kind of boring in a way, but good at the same time. Yet another catchy chorus but i dont know not really a fan. 3/5.

9. The Sweetest Memory - This is a very underrated song but to me it is actually the best on the album. It is very diverse, not slowing down from beginning to end. It has a very interesting sound. 5/5

10. Last Night - My third favorite song on the album. It is a sad, but very good ballad. It has the same basic bridge chorus bridge chorus structure, but they actually throw a half descent guitar solo just before the last exploding chorus. 4.5/5

11. Your Nightmare - The best heavy metal song on the album. Very catchy vocals, insanely good verses and chrorus. The end resembles the beginning of Pretty Suicide in a way. 4/5

12. Tonightless - Again, great song but not for these dudes. It is a great way to end the album or a live show. Alot better than track 6 but falls short of track ten. 3.5/5

Vanity and Obsession >>> this album.

I still love this, though.

Fix your spelling mistakes and don't do track by tracks.

Album has its moments (Our darkest days, Coma, Sweetest memory) but it seems 18V tried a bit too hard with the 80's glam/cock rock thing, there's just too much of that for me, though its quite listenable in general. This is still far better than James Harts new band, I forget the name, just like the music.

On a side note its a little odd they opted for a similar direction to Papa Roach as the two frontmen look pretty similar.

Bought this blindly at HMV a long time ago because there was some 2 for $25 deal going on. Pretty enjoyable overall, luckily. Our Darkest Days is probably my favourite.
