Review Summary: "Grab yourself a can of Pork Soda!, you'll be feeling just fine!". - Pork soda (track 9)
Primus is an epic band. Insanely weird. But that is all Les. "Ler and "Herb" go along with that. It just gives Primus it's natural taste. Les is one of the world's best bass players. He slaps his bass. His biggest musicial influence is Geddy Lee of RUSH. Another epic band. Les is not a regular person. Nor his he serious at ALL. He goofs around. His lyrics can be hard to understand. But bass is not ALL Les plays or does. He is also a vocalist. The vocals are not amazing like all other singers. He sounds more like he is simply talking. Rather singing. But he destroys his bass. In other words, he plays his bass like a professional. He is a professional. He writes the music, the lyrics, and album titles. Of course. Les is also the founder, and main guy, of Primus. Of course. Then Larry "Ler" LaLonde. He used to destroy his gutair as a heavy metal gutairist of the heavy metal band "Possessed". He is an amazing gutair player, but he is not qualified as one of the best. He then was asked to join Primus. So he did. He is also very great for Primus, very talented. Then Tim "Herb Alexander. He was also a heavy metal drummer. Of the heavy metal band "Laundry". That band was not that good to me. Not the best. The written music for Laundry is not that good. Though I love heavy metal. Tim was then asked to join Primus. He did.
Now Pork Soda. People say bad about this album and give it bad ratings. But honestly, it is a Primus album, it should be good. It is. Pork Soda was the third studio album/record in Primus's discography. The songs are well written and performed. Pork Soda gave away more of Primus's weird taste of music. Some songs are well popular in Primus history. Just like "My Name is Mud". One of their most popular. The song is about a blue collared man that does not get payed much. He gets annoyed by his friend and knocks him to the ground. Then they have a common spat, then he hits him in the cranium with an aluminum baseball bat. The song was a hit. When Les sings in some songs, most of them, he is singing soft and it sounds as if his soft singing is buried in the insturments. That does not mean, "Oooh Les sings crappy on this album". Of course it does not mean that. Les still sings like himself. Weird and unatural. Les still kills his bass. Ler kills his gutair. Tim kills his drums. All over again. This album is very, unatural and sometimes soft. Though usually breaks out the true taste of Primus. Songs like "Nature Boy"and "Bob" include the soft singing buried in the music. The bass has a lot of trebble in some songs. And their is a lot of light picking on the thin strings on gutair. The gutair is light sounding and sometimes soft. The drumming is not hard either. "Pork Soda" is a very great blum. But wierd at the same time and soft, treble in the bass, and light pickking. That is just Pork Soda itself. Cannot deny it. Songs on here are fun to listen to and they will catch your attention.
Les is a great bass player. He is just weird. Some songs that are actually serious, he makes them quite fun sounding. Les always will be one of the best Bass players. He will always be great by using his slap bass technique. He is great. He will never be kicked out of one of the best bass players. His oddball sense of humor will never go away. That is why we have Pork Soda.
Ler was a heavy metal gutairist. Not anymore. He is now a funk rock gutairist. Or so. He could also be considered a prog. rock gutairist. He kills his gutair. Sometimes he gets to show his heavy metal genre. It depends on how Les writes the song. Usually. "Ler" is an epic gutairist. You could not dislike him.
Tim is a great drummer. He was a heavy metal drummer for Laundry. Not anymore. He is now what "Ler"is. Funk rock or Progressive Rock. So you have your players and well descriptions of them.
Overall: This is a great album. Pork Chop's little ditty just starts it out. And Hail santa is just a catchy bass tune with bells and weird things that Les is speaking. You should go get this album. It is quite quriky. Though still well performed and written. So don't deny this album. It is quite fine to listen to.
