Life Won't Wait by Rancid is a extremely underrated album. This album succesfully branches out from Ska and Punk (found in their previous three albums) to explore reggae, rocksteady, and even dub and hip-hop (found on the track Crane Fist.) The album has many songs featuring organ, piano, and a horns section. But this album stll contains tracks not so different from Rancid's previous albums. Songs like Bloodclot, Black Lung and Hoover Street, and Hooligans still have a familiar punk and ska feel to them. But some of the best tracks from the album are the roots reggae songs like wrongful suspiscion, life won't wait, Corazon de Oro, and Coppers. These are some of my favorite Rancid songs of all time. They bring a whole new feel to Rancid's music that makes the album unique.
Some tracks are boring, not catchy, and musically bland. Tracks like Lady Liberty, Cash Culture and Violence, and New Dress slow the album down. That is the only reason why I did not give this album a 5/5.
But overall this album is a great listen, any fan of Rancid or any punk rock music NEEDS to listen to this album. (This album is especially good when listened to all the way through from beggining to end. When listened to all the way through the diversity of the album really makes it better than picking out popular trakcs and listening to those first.)
I give this album a 4.5/5, a geat, and underrated album.
