Review Summary: Epic!
Rush is a progressive rock band. Very popular! They formed in Toronto. This was their 5th album released in the 70's. 1977 to be exact. The songs on this album refer to society. The bad in society. The album also refers to medieaval times in some way. The album is very good and a worth listening to. Neil writes the lyrics. Geddy and Alex write the songs. Xanadu was very long but good. This album has a lot of woodblocks and sythesizers. The gutair riffs are great too! This got on the Billboard Pop Albums! How? I don't know but that isn't right. This album is amazing in prog. rock. The band itself is Progressive Rock. This album is full of talent. And Rush is a band of great musicians. The album cover is a marionette sitting in a chair with destroyed castles in the backround. A Farewell to Kngs is one of my favorites. Now on to the songs:
1. A Farewell to Kings (5:51)
The song of the same album. This song is about problems in society. With a medieaval term to describe the bad in society. The song opens with an acoustic solo. Then some keyboard. Then the jam session with awesome lyrics and chorus. Cannot miss! 4.5/5
2. Xanadu (11:08)
The city of Xanadu is what this song is about. The song starts out with birds and woodblocks. The riff is amazing to! The beginning riff is slow but it is catchy. Then keyboard starts to compliment the acoustic riff. The song has a lot of keyboard and barely any bass. Can't miss it is a classic! The song clocks in at 11 minutes. Dang that is long! 5/5
3. Closer to the Heart (2:53)
The song is about people finding their paths in life. This song is extremley popular in Rush's history. Though it is not very long. It is still a listen to. The beginning gutair sounds great! 5/5
4. Cinderella Man (4:21)
This is another classic! I can not remember much of it but it is great. Kind of slow, but good! Do not skip. Don't you dare! 4/5
5. Madgiral (2:35)
This song is another classic. Somewhat slow but good! Madgiral is a song in another medieval term. Listen it is good! 4/5
6. Cygnus X-1 (10:25)
This is a great closing for the album! Geddy sings his highest he has ever sung on this song. The song opens with a voice talking about the black holeof Cygnus x-1 which lies in the constellation of Cygnus. A astronaut gets on his ship the Rocinante and flies into the black hole, in search of what happens if you go into it. The song has a lot of keyboard. This is one of Rush's best! Though sadly, they do not play it anymore. 5/5
Overall: This album is great do not miss!
