Release Date: 1990 | Tracklist

If you do not know Primus you better check yourself. Primus is a 1990's classic. Primus is all about Les Claypool. His oddball sense of humor gives Primus its type. Les Claypool is a slap bassist. One of the best bassists in the World. But he also sings. The thing that is kind of bad about Primus is the vocals. The vocals are not like singers would usually sing. It is more like talking. Primus songs are more like Tall Tales then songs with lifetime meanings. Then you have Larry "Ler" LaLonde. He was a heavy metal gutarist for the thrash metal band, "Possesion." Larry left them to be in Primus when they released their live album "Suck on This" in California. Les had first tried out for Metallica. But he did not make it. So that was the true birth of Primus. Then you have your drummer Tim "Herb" Alexander. Before he came to Primus. He was apart of Laundry. A metal band.He left to be in Primus. On their live album, again "Suck on This." Now on to Frizzle Fry. This is not their best sounding album in the lack of audio. Their is a lot of hits on that snare drum. Also the bass's sounding is hard to describe. Larry's gutair sounds like any gutair would in a rock band. Now on to our songs:

1. to Defy the Laws of Tradition (6:41)
This is our opening. The opening to this song is a live beginning to the Rush classic, YYZ. Then it cuts out with an error sound. Then our bass intro. Then Larry and Tim break out of their cages. They start jamming along. Larry's riff is quite catchy. Larry's gutair playing gives out the sound. Tim's drumming is again a lot of snare drumming. I gurantee no one will skip this! It is a great intro to this album! 5/5

2. Groundhog's Day (4:58)
The opening is not exciting. But the song defineantly describes Primus. This song is about the first day of spring and pie! Les metaphors this song. This song gets played live much. No one could dislike this classic of Primus! 4.5/5

3. Too Many Puppies (3:57)
Now you may be thinking. "This song must be about Puppies!Yay yay yay!" . Well you are wrong. Les uses the term "Puppies." as soliders who are tooyoung to go to war, The song starts out by Tim hitting bells of some sort. The song is the first song Les ever composed. No one could disklike this! 4/5

4. Mr. Knowitall (3:51)
They call me Mr. Knowitall. That is correct! This riff to this song is very catchy and the bass is not crazy in this song. Whenever Les sings a part. He sings it alone. Without one instrument playing. The opening is a verse sang by Les. This song is great! You can't skip it. But I give it a 3.5 out of 5. 3.5/5

5. Frizzle Fry (6:05)
The song of the album's same name. This song would be good for a closing. But it was used as track 5... This song has funny lyrics with a opening of bass. The riff is not that catchy. But it is a good riff. And no one can deny it. Once the lyrics are over. It is just an instrumental jam session. I would not press the skip track button. Of course not! It is a classic! I enjoy listening to it. 5/5

6. John the Fisherman (3:37)
This song is not that long. But it is one of Primus's most well known songs! But it is not their biggest. John the Fisherman tells the story of a boy who is not doing good in school and dreams to being a fisherman. His mother thinks it is a bad idea. When he grows up he becomes a fisherman. When he is out fishing a storm comes along and his boat sinks into the ocean. Not a happy ending but still a classic. The song starts out with a catchy drumming opening. And a rip ofless's bass. Then the song starts out. It is a classic! You dare not skip it. If you do. You have disobeyed Primus for good! 5/5

7. You Can't kill Michael Malloy (0:26)
Time for a 26 second waltz session! Who is Michael Malloy? No one knows. But everyone knows you can't kill him. This quickie isn't amazing. But it defieantly describes Primus. Strange and unessacary. (No Rating)

8. The Toys go Winding down (4:35)
It used to be called Toyz 1988. But hey that was Les's original band Sausage! Let's not talk about them. This song starts off with an acoustic riff by Larry. The les and tim break in. An awesome bassline is introduced by Les and complimented by Herb and Ler. The story is hard to explain. But yet it is a classic that cannot be missed! 4/5

9. Pudding Time (4:09)
It's pudding time! It's pudding time! That's what les says at the end to The toys go winding down, A prelude to this classic! The lyrics are wacky and goofy again. With an unknown reason of why Humpty Dumpty was brought into this song. The opening is just a gutair part. Then Herb decides to play along! Then all can say "Hello!" to the bass. Can't Miss! 4.5/5

10. Sathington Willoughby (0:25)
A quckie. All I hear is clapping and les talking about "The legislater that pinned us up the bill." In the brown album, Sathington returns. Somehow. (No Rating)

11. Spegetti Western
This song is ok. I can't remember to much of it. But it isn't their best. I am not saying it is bad.But it of course is not their best performance. But it is still worth listening to. 3/5

12. Harold of the Rocks (6:17)
This song is about a retarded guy named Harold. Who is bizarre and does not make much sense. Tis song is another classic. And is worth listening to. The riff is good and the lyrics are hilarious! I would defineantly look them up! 4.5/5

13. To Defy (0:39)
This is a short reprise to Defy the Laws of Traditon. Though it isn't better!!!! (No Rating).

Over all, this album is great! Funny goofy and the riffs are awesome! It is worth listening to. So what are you waiting for Christmas? Go buy it! 4.0. That is what i give it! But I give Primus itself a 5.

Hey there. Don't do track by track reviews, it's too much to read and inevitably you end up repeating yourself or not saying much, therefore dragging the review down becoming more superficial. Also, develop your sentences, so that when you have "but", "so", "and", etc. use commas not full stops. This way it seems you are a 10 year old boy. (Sorry).

PS: One review per day, you're just knocking others' reviews off the front page. If you are a troll then fuck you (if not, ignore this)

Sir, all reviews are typed to much to read. Go around and read others reviews. They type much, don't they? Please go hate at something else. It is getting annoying. have you seen REAL criticts reviews. They are at least 2 pages to read. Goodness. Have you seen us? We are writing reviews. Maybe we want to be critics when we grow up. This is waht exactly do. Their reviews are hell of a lot to read. Use your logic.

this is their best album, the only thing keeping me from 5-ing it are the shorter interlude tracks.
