Review Summary: Creativity. Courage. Originality. These are some things that are really hard to put together in an album nowadays, but Dynahead shows us that it can still be done.
The brazilian Progressive/Thrash metal band Dynahead has come up with a fantastic album, a modern classic that transcends our conception of music in general. A gorgeous, fearless album that defies our own musical knowledge, and takes us to another dimension while we try to understand the album.
This is a concept album about the origin of the universe, and what's our role in it. The album lyrics consists basically in metaphors, and it is definitely worth reading them. As the album starts to unwind, what the band is trying to say starts to make sense, and when you finally end the album you see how incredible it is.
The album starts with Ylem, an amazing song (actually one of the best on the album), however, it gives us no clue about what's coming ahead. Each song has its beauty, each song is unique in their own way. What's the best part of the album? Maybe the beautiful chords on Circles, the ballad of the album? Or maybe the agressive drums on My Replicator? Could it be the fantastic arpeggios sequence in Confinement In Black? It's really hard to say, as i said before, the songs are very different, and that's what makes this album so unique.
The band is formed by Caio Duarte (vocals), Diogo Mafra (guitar), Pablo Vilela (guitar), Diego Teixeira (bass) and Rafael Dantas (now replaced by Deth Santos) (drums). An amazing thing is how each one of these members fits perfectly on the band, all of them show us a lot of technique and a lot of feeling on each instrument; all of them play their roles fantastically.
In short, you MUST get this album. And don't just listen to it. Analyse it. Understand it. Feel it.
