why? ur so good at it and it's always great to hear what you have to say about an album i would be really interested in your thoughts on hval

i think what hval is doing is really progressive, by first appreciating language for its ability to not only express sound but alter a word's meaning depending on how one says it (see: clitoris, erection), which services not only the song (which sound as if no one part could exist without the other, the language, the vocals and the melody) but its philosophical resonance, which should be: these lyrics express a sexual frankness and self-awareness that sex is an individual's independent experience, promiscuity is a perception, and that one can alter this perception simply by experience at random. so too does the music express this

which leads me to my second point, that the music is fantastic. her love of space gives progression of each song a mystique that grows on repeat listens, so that in the absence of "songs" we still feel its presence, the ebb and flow. these moments are given equal weight as the hooks, which are surprisingly bountiful but never used as "trigger moments" to hinge ones patience upon

anywho, i also love that she sounds and renders as genuinely feminine, and one feels that this vantage (of being a women in today's modern age, recognizing a collective conscious "way to live" that has been driven into minds the world over and which comes filtered through the Individual as conceived) allows for such a gentle and knowing craft, but that the content and phrasing often lends itself to androgynous critical analysis. as in, hval's qualms on love and sex are often far more concerned with how physiological play affects psychological being, which are then phrased not in absolutes but in very minute, personal detail. which, like the greats i would compare her to, allows her to transcend her own world view to touch and reflect others
