(Some of those are guesses, but I'm pretty sure I got everyone in the right place)
The first three songs on this album are great skacore songs. Fast, awesome basslines, hard and punk-sounding, but also good incorporation of ska (especially in the breakdown of No Such Thing) that mixes perfectly with everything else.
In the hardcore scene, there are groups of people known as crews. Now I know the members of Link 80 were part of some hardcore scene, because first of all they're a skaCORE and they played with hardcore bands in the past. So they made their own crew, starting out as a joke, called Against the Rest Crew (ATRC).
Quote:
Eventually, ATRC started to take on new meaning as more and more friends and fans embraced the band and what we're about. The term "against the rest" doesn't really mean we're against everybody else, let me explain; Throughout the seven years that the entity Link Eighty has been around (as that's what it has really become) we've been under constant scrutiny from much of society. Many (old and young alike) don't understand why we subject ourselves to touring relentlessly and dedicating so much of our lives to this band when chances of a so-called success are so slim. "Against the Rest" is about not conforming to what is excepted or even what is logical, but going with what you feel...despite the fact that many may not agree or understand your path. We encourage everybody to embrace this and basically just follow your heart and learn to live without trends or another's approval.
