Review Summary: Like a mortician, they're working with something that's already dead.
I really don't know what happened with these guys....
They had the potential to be a decently popular relevant band after getting on with Universal....but then they fell off. Savior Sorrow was passable seeing as how they were in a transition period, but had they continued going off of the vibe from M3, to XIII they would have been HUGE!
That M3/XIII sound was very heavy and really what fans of "metal" nowadays could grab onto. M3 was heavily keyboard saturated and is still (IMO) they're heaviest album yet. Unfortunately, with BSFUC it just turns people away with it's god-awful cheesiness and half-assed attempts to be "metal". The only people I can see enjoying this are fans that are lifers of the band, 14 year old boys, and UFC fans...other than that their whole demographic of people they COULD have attracted aren't really interested in a B-grade horror movie look/sound. ....and I'm sorry but Gravy's lead's could be bested by a hack any day.
It all seems like a sad joke that turned out to be real...too bad, they USED (to be) super talented.
They spent the 90's bitter about Slipknot, then they had a shot and ***ed it up after J left.
One final thing; I think it's really pathetic that right before SS came out, they bashed Slipknot...shortly after, they took it back. Before BSFUC, they talked *** on J; shortly after they "made amends". Are these just petty attempts just to create a buzz? Terrible.
Oh and BTW, I'm pretty sure Come On wasn't banned for it's "violent content". When you have a chorus that says *** 2-3 times, and the chorus repeats 3 times, there might be a problem.
Sorry for the rant, I'm just a frustrated old school fan.
MUSHROOMHEAD: COME ON!
