This is the bands first album released in 2003. This is a very well written album both musically and lyrically. Very strong rock feel.
Stephen Christian - Vocals
Joeseph Milligan - Guitar
Deon Rexroat - Bass Guitar
Nathan Strayer - Guitar
Nathan Young - Drums
1) Ready Fuels
This is a very nice intro song with a strong rock feel. The song starts off with a 4 bar guitar intro which is simple but affective. The drums come in after the 4 bars and really give you a sense of where the pulse is. The verse is awesome and the chorus matches it. Each chorus ends really well and then it bangs straight back into the verse. Stephen Christian voice is top notch through out the whole song. The song enters the bridge with a really nice and strong guitar solo. Overall an awesome starter (4.5/5)
2) Foreign Language
This song is one of my favorites. Starts off with the guitar again and Stephen basically singing straight away. The verse is very strong once again with the drums starting. During the little section that splits the 2 verses there is an awesome sound that is like a drum machine of some sort. The chorus goes heavier and has a great feel with the drummer changing to the ride cymbal with gives a good sound. There is no such guitar solo in this one. (5/5)
3) Change The World (Lost Ones)
Second best song on the album. Once again intros with just guitar then the drums come in. Very solid verse with just vocals, bass, guitar and drums playing. In the chorus one of two real affective things is when the drummer does a fill and he and the guitars stop and the Stephen is left singing “We could change it down”. The second affective thing is Stephen sings the chorus with such passion. Great Song! (5/5)
4) Cold War Transmissions
This song doesn’t do much for me. It’s an ok song but it’s not their best. It has a nice sounding chorus but still something about the song that doesn’t appeal to me. Also has some nice drum grooves and fills in it. (3/5)
5) Glass To The Arson Lyrics
Once again a vocal and guitar intro. Has some nice effects through out the song. Has a really nice pleasant sounding chorus. Nice heavy part in the guitar solo and after the guitar solo a nice little strong and dominating section that pumps us back into the final chorus and ends with the guitar ringing out. (4/5)
6) The Undeveloped Story
This is easily the best song on the album. Like most of their songs a guitar intro and then breaks into easily the best verse on the album. Very simple stuff being played but sounds really affective. The chorus sounds good as well but my favourite part in the whole song is the second verse where the drummer moves onto the cowbell and the Stephen sings “Dance all night, Dance all night” this part really gets me moving. And the best part about it is it happens again later in the song. The drummer also uses triplets and crotchet triplets very affectively. (5/5)
7) Autobahn
This is a nice upbeat tempo song. I’ll admit that its not one of my favourite but its ok for what it is. Have nice catchy verses and choruses. What a voice once again. Awesome vocals. A very nice guitar solo (I’m no guitarist) but I think he used a slide. Overall a cool little song (4/5)
8) We Dreamt In Heist
Starts off with great effected sounding guitar. Has a nice mellow verse and chorus. All verses, choruses etc really gel well together in this song. Has really cool effects used in this song. (4/5)
9) Love Song
This song is a bit different. Has some cool piano and once again has good lyrics. It’s a type of song that is a bit different to the other stuff on the album but never the less is still a good song. (4/5)
10) Cadence
Another awesome song! Another song that has great lyrics and great vocals. Another simple sounding sound but so very affective. Although not acoustic it kind of has an acoustic feel. Another strong drumming effort. (4.5/5)
11) Naive Orleans
Once again has a type of an acoustic feel and lyrics are awesome as well. Has a nice soft intro and then changes to a nice flowing verse and an evenly good chorus. I really enjoy listening to the lyrics in this song. Another love song! (4/5)
OVERALL: I think this is an awesome album and very easy to listen to, much of the stuff is very simple but is so enjoyable to listen to. I would highly recommend this album!
This is my first review so I would greatly appreciate any feedback.
