Review Summary: Another great effort by Wednesday 13, on par with everything else he's done.

When I first listened to this album, you wouldn't believe how disappointed I was. Being a fan of all of his other material, this just sounded grossly different and, to be quite honest, old to me. The music had seemed to slow down compared to his other material. However, after persisting, I've grown to like this album quite a bit.

Blood Fades To Black: This is a simple intro track with some drums good enough to fist pump to at a concert. Nothing spectacular though, and because it is only an intro, I'll leave the rating for it alone. ?/5

I Wanna Be Cremated: This song starts out very well, a fast and energetic riff. The chorus seems very repetitive to me, due to the fact that he says, "I wanna be cremated" 8 times and this is the chorus. While this is not out of character for Wednesday, I felt it detracted from what could've been one of the best songs on the album. Nice guitar solo, nothing stand out though. 2.5/5

Ghoul Of My Dreams: This is one of my favorite songs on the album. It's faster than most of the other songs on the CD and reminds me more of Wednesday's Fang Bang material. It has multiple riffs throughout and this song just keeps going strong to the end. The solo isn't spectacular by any means but it feels very at home with this song and its fun energetic feeling. 4/5

One Knife Stand: Do I like this song or not? I can't decide. I love it because it's Wednesday, but the slowness of the song (reminiscent of a '50s rock and roll prom song) kills it for me. This is simply the weakest song on the album which is a shame because the lyrics could go well with other instrumentation. 1.5/5

Calling All Corpses: Once more, we snap back to the faster, more anthem-oriented Wednesday, spewing, "Calling all corpses!/tonight's the night we drink your blood/tonight, tonight, we drink your blood tonight" throughout the whole song. Now, this may seem a contradiction to my earlier words about "I Wanna Be Cremated" but this song has a furious and venomous feeling about it that carries it through its length. 3/5

Miss Morgue: Faster than most, but still not quite a favorite of mine. The vocals in the chorus seemed a little slow to keep up with the rest of the song. Good song despite the slightly lagging chorus vocals. 3/5

Silver Bullets: One of my favorites, this song is not a traditional Wednesday song. The vocals are a bit slower/drug out than the others but it fits the song (unlike the others I have complained about). The chorus is great, and the solo is gripping. Perhaps I just love the subject matter (werewolves) which reminds me of the Underworld movies and refuse to hear the similarities between this and other songs I've criticized but dare I say, this might be the best song on the album. 5/5

Bad At Being Human: Here is an example of Wednesday at his finest. The first couple of times I didn't quite like it but I listened to the lyrics the next few times and now I love it and laugh when I hear it. He talks about being bad and to tell us how bad, he says "I'm bad when I'm walking down the street punching babies, kickin' puppies." Right there I lost it and cracked up. This guy is hilarious and the only gripe I have with this particular track is that I don't enjoy the gang vocals in the chorus, but that I can deal with. 4/5

London After Midnight: Along with Silver Bullets, this is my favorite song here. It makes me want to drink, fight, then fight some more. The chorus is as catchy as it could be, the energy is there, and the chorus makes me want to jump for joy. What else can I say then BUY THIS SONG! 5/5

Candle For The Devil: For some reason, this song reminds me a bunch of Motley Crue, which I have listened to a fair amount of. What can I say, this song is good but not as good as Faith In The Devil (from the album Fang Bang) which I expected it to surpass. 3/5

We All Die: Amongst the better tracks of the CD, this song is fun and also a love song. Wednesday is telling a girl he loves her more than anything (amongst other things) in case they all die. The guitar solo is nice, nothing to sneeze at but nothing that stands out from the others. 3/5

Something Wicked This Way Comes: Being the first song I heard from the album, I thought it was "meh" and my opinion has changed a little bit. After a few listens, it's become a bit better to me but I still don't find this an awesome track. 2.5/5

Blood Fades To Black (Reprise): An outro that has some nice acoustics in it. ?/5

Try writing in a simple essay structure, it will make it easier to read.

For me the vocals/lyrics always bring the nice atmosphere they create down, also the look sits strangely with me too.

As far as Wednesday goes this aint half bad, merited the lyrics are not the best thought out or crafted as long as you don't take it too seriously it works out pretty good. I know it's much of the same-ness but it has a very Women and Children Last sound.

@FruityCatOfDoom, I like track by track reviews the most personally so I wrote one. Why not?

@IpodMastery You think this sounds like Women and Children Last? I didn't think so. This album seems really slow to me compared to that and Skeletons. Plus I noticed he doesn't do any of his high screams in this one which I really enjoy :/

Mainly because I feel the production is a lot more modern. Taking into account the fact that some of the lyrical content is similar and has the same vocalist it makes sense. I do agree however that it is simpler, slower in a sense.

Agreed. Except for the solos (which seem to have improved), I got a really prevalent "rock n roll" feel from this album rather than the usual "horror punk with metal" sound he does. Had to adjust to it to genuinely like it

It's much of the same really, it would have been completely acceptable for this to have been a Murderdolls record. It wouldn't sound too much out of place.
