Review Summary: OMG CHECK OUT THESE RIFFS BRO THEY’RE BROOTIFUL AF

If your entire album is going to be a riff fest, the riffs sure better be good, and have no fear, Volumes deliver in that department. The last time I encountered this many hooks was in a pirate convention, I mean seriously, the hooks are everywhere in this album. Another strong point of the album is the technical aspect. Forget conventional rhythms, why bother with conventional when you can constantly change them? Yes, time changes are ripe in this tree, and you can also bet that the band also have technical skills. You can see where this is going already. So far it sounds like your typical metalcore band, and perhaps they are, yet they are far beyond average. Indeed, this little EP is quite excellent and a fantastic start for this band.

Epic melodies may not be the first thing that comes to mind when considering metalcore, but Volumes is a different breed. Although the cool riffs are front and center, in the background, gloriously melodic guitars shine with the intensity of the sun. It wouldn’t be too far off to assume that the band has been influenced by post-rock somewhere in their past, for The Concept of Dreaming can be surprisingly breathtaking. This is perhaps the defining point of Volumes, for amongst their extremely chaotic, heavy exterior, there is a sense of beauty that is captivating. The band’s peaceful, engrossing atmosphere infuses their destructive sound with new life, and makes it surprisingly listenable. Whether it be the br00tal growls, the excellent breakdowns, or even the technical wankery, none becomes tiring when fused with their melodies. It you’re looking for a metalcore album that’s easy on the ears, you found it.

In conclusion, this metals pretty hard. This shit goes harder than me in the shower when the water touches my pee pee. And you know that I definitely like that. Likewise, I like this album. It’s not exactly the second coming of Christ, but it does wake me up aggressively in the same regard, like the realization that I better get my shit together or I’m gonna be murdered by evil Lemmings for eternity, and definitely have no more sexy showers. Perhaps in the eons of time there will be a new metalcore band that replaces this shit with melodious metaldious bullshit that is amazing but for now this rocks my sock.🧦

Lol at summary. So who does this sound similar to? I'm guessing Misery Signals-ish from the review.

Not trying to be a prick, but these guys sound nothing like Misery Signals. I can see The Contortionist comparison. They are most definitely influenced the most by Meshuggah. The band is great. This album contains some amazing groove riffs.
