Review Summary: Impending Doom show that violence is the answer that they have been looking for.

The four piece, Riverside, California based band Impending Doom has been changing their sound ever since they began and this time is no exception. In their third full length album There Will Be Violence they have found themselves performing more of a deathcore style of music, but don’t let that shy you away from giving this one a chance.

Impending Doom come out of the box swinging on the opening instrumental track, “Hell Breaks Loose” and the battering does not let up until the very last song, “Sweating Blood.” Sandwiched between these two songs are eight other unbelievably punishing metal tunes that are fast, heavy and designed for one thing; getting the listeners neck snapping for the duration (just over 34 minutes).
Unlike previous albums, Impending Doom brought in two guest vocalists: Tim Lambesis of As I Lay Dying for their third track, “Orphans” and Vince Bennett of The Acacia Strain for their fifth track, “The Great Fear.” Adding such strong vocals to an already strong front man was a great move for them. The guest vocals seriously contribute to the album without overpowering or taking away the spotlight from Brooke Reeves.

Production on this album is spectacular. Having been to the same studio as their previous release, the tone is almost identical. Musicianship is also top notch; interesting riffs, intense blast-beats and well sculpted break-downs make this a great deathcore album. That being said, don’t take it for anything that it’s not; this is a deathcore album overpopulated with breakdowns. Good, solid, heavy breakdowns.

They have come a long way from their first release Nailed, Dead, Risen with this top-notch release. I am certain There Will Be Violence is going to solidify the band as a force to be reckoned within the extreme metal world.

is a very solid line which tells me a lot in a short space. Just get into how the tracks make you
feel more I'd say. What about them moves you? Not bad for a first though -- looking forward to more

Just because they are Christian does not mean that they shouldn't be taken seriously. They can play heavy and dark music as well. Its just from a different perspective.

No. they preach while im trying to ignore their biased attempt at lyrics. breakdowns are generic. not heavy. not dark.
