Release Date: 2011 | Tracklist

Review Summary: Many listeners are going to get hit full in the face by this atmospheric, groove thrash effort. Violent and full of rage ‘3’ will have listeners captivated through its many turns.

For those who don’t know or are not familiar with Breed Machine, its members are Ja (guitars), Deub (drums) and Kriss (bass). They develop groove filled thrash/hardcore elements for the masses with an emphasis on the live performance. Breed Machine’s latest release comes complete with 16 tracks on a digi-pack release and true to their musical stylings their music is tailored for the live performance and for their fans.

Filled with emotion (usually rage) and groove filled are two descriptions easily used when describing Breed Machine’s music. And whilst not widely known Breed Machine show technical and creative talent mixing in different elements ranging from the atmospheric, hardcore, groove thrash and small amounts of technical metal. Raspy and screamed vocal lines are dominant in ‘3’ and as such come to the fore-front of the band’s sound and helps reinforces the emotive, angry state of their music. The bands use of rage brings the listener in before being adapted to the rest of the music, which for the most part tie-in almost perfectly. However the at times jumpy, sometimes off pest riff and drum patterns may throw a few listeners off on a first listen the magic that is Breed Machine needs to be tasted a second, and third time before it can be fully appreciated. Tracks on ‘3’ hit the listener like a meaty punch to the rib cage and whilst not doing anything overly remarkable the band have developed a raw, live sound that should grab many listeners attention.

‘3’s sound is a mix of thrash, hardcore, groove inspired riffs combined with some hauntingly dark dissonant tones best shown layered in the track “Dernieres Prieres” where the atmosphere created affirms the dark mood of the album. Other elements of the bands instrumentation while lacking a higher level of technicality, display a solid writing process that has moved itself to the studio. There is however slight annoyances that bring themselves out in the recording process including the ‘over triggering’ of the bass pedals and whilst not a major issue does take from the overall quality of the record. Being relatively unknown the question remains for Breed Machine is whether the music they have been producing is of a high enough quality to launch them onto the world’s stage. Having music made for the live performance is a good start however they may need something more to promote themselves on a larger scale. That is not to say that Breed Machine’s ‘3’ does not show great promise would be incorrect as the playability on the record is rather high considering the lack of attention they have thus received throughout their career.

Revealing a positive feature on ‘3’ is the inclusion of atmospheric sounds. Compared to past releases, this adds a darker, more melodic style to the overall album and adds greatly to its quality levels, while not over-doing the vibe enough to create a tiresome listen.

Pros: Atmospheric sound adds to the overall quality, No unnecessary musical parts (over flashy guitar solos and other wankery), well recorded with a clean production.

Cons: Does tend to blend after repeated plays, and lack of hard accessibility to purchase using sources other than iTunes, lack of non-atmospheric melody lines.

Had this written up on the request of another user (you know who you are) and was thinking between a 3.5 and a 4 rating, opted for a higher, positive score. Hope i did this one merit. Feedback welcome.

Also noticed i used '3' six times lol.

And Hawks, I still reckon you should give this a go, tell me what you think.

Good review, the last paragraph, the conclusion would probably look better if added into the last actually paragraph. Also the pros and cons might look better if stylized like bullet points like a lot of other reviews but that's just imo.
Other than that it was a greatly detailed review that had a decent flow.

There's a lot of grammatical errors in the review, but it's still comprehensible. It's a little too late for me to proof read. Other than that, it's a dece review.

You could definitely clean this up a bit. Go through and fix any grammatical errors and things of that nature. Not too bad overall. Like I told you though, this sounds almost like the exact opposite of something I would like.

I'm here to nitpi- er, critique.

Violent and full of rage ‘3’ will

needs a comma after 'rage'

Breed Machine’s latest release comes complete with 16 tracks on a digi-pack release and true to their musical stylings their music is tailored for the live performance and for their fans.

feels like it needs a comma after 'stylings' but I might be wrong

Other elements of the bands instrumentation while lacking a higher level of technicality,

comma after 'instrumentation'

They develop groove filled thrash/hardcore elements for the masses with an emphasis on the live performance.

try 'with an emphasis on their live performances'

Filled with emotion (usually rage) and groove filled

get rid of the second 'filled'

also you use the word 'whist' instead of 'while' throughout. they mean the exact same thing but it reads kind of awkward IMO, though you certainly can leave it and it'll still be as effective

one more thing: i think you mention the band's genre a wee too much. you state their genre in every paragraph, which isn't necessary.

otherwise this is a decent review. not worthy of a neg but there are some parts I'd definitely fix up

it's more groove-styled, i'm not trying to create yet another metal genre.

Technically speaking, groove metal was the continuation and evolution of thrash metal in the 90s (which is why it's sometimes referred to as post-thrash or neo-thrash), so groove-thrash isn't that hard to imagine.

Nice review buddy. Sorry I couldn't get here earlier. As has been said before, your punctuation and phrasing could use some work, but other than that, good try. Just keep proofreading those reviews until your phrasing and communication is down. Sometimes it's better to wait a day after reading, then proofread. Looking at it with fresh eyes really helps you to spot mistakes, as does reading aloud.

As for the band, I might check them out.
