That conversation gave me many thoughts about this album. As rediculous as it sounds, I'll get into the meaning of it all much later. So, my little anecdote starts now...

So, it was summertime. My born-again Christian freeloading cousin is getting married to a girl that hes known for two weeks. He doesn't have a job, nor does he plan on getting one because the girls dad is rich. So I'm driving through New Jersey with a fistfull of new and recommended music on my iPod. I sit and try to relax in my hoodie with my Avaitor glasses. I look twords my music machine. I go over to Killradio. I've heard Scavenger before, it was cool. I heard that song on the way to Universal Studios with Rudd13. Hmm, lets give this album a try...

Well, I must say. I'm pretty blown away. Killradio are one of those bands that try as hard as they can to be as original as possible. This works very well for them, because it's Alternative, with screaming vocals, and excellent bass. But the bass is played as if the music was jazz, so it's all mixed up. The vocals are probably my favorite part of the band though. They're not screaming, but very raspy yelling. Occasionally he does scream, and when he does, it's gold.

Don't be fooled by the title of the album, or the track 'Pen0r Envy', this album is out to grab you by the genetalia and viciously scream at you.The one thing I really didn't like that much about this album, some of the songs are a bit repetitive. That wipes off the five-star rating for me. Now, about the opening conversation. About midway through the album, you lose interest because of the repetitivity. Oh, and look out for the reggae song in the middle somewhere. Overall, this album has a ton of filler which could have been eliminated if the band had just tried harder. Here's what I thought of the individual tracks.

+++++++++++++++++++++++++

The Greatness The first song I heard from the band is my favorite by far. Scavenger was featured in NFSU, the game. That's where I first heard of the band. It starts off with slow guitar picking. Then the singer just screams as jagged as he can and that begins the chaos. The bass in this track is incredible. It is definitley the highlight of the track, if not the vocals. This is the song to get if you're interested in the band at all. Byfar the best track on the album too.

Another great song is the first track A.M.E.R.I.K.A. It starts off with whispering, but there's the scream again. The catchy bass and high-hat tapping lead this song all the way through. The chorus is also pretty cool. "AMERICA, WE'RE WATCHING YOOOU". In the end, this is one of the better tracks on the album, plain and simple.

Burning The Water Brown is also a fine track. This is the only track without screaching vocals. This track is mainly just a catchy little ditty. It doesn't have amazing musician-ship, it's just a happy-go-lucky song that is golden based on it's catchiness. Actually, now that I listen to it again, the bass is spot on. But the rest is just generic.

+++++++++++++++++++++++++

The So-So Songs One of the first songs that fall under this category is definitley Ad Jam. The fact that the singer keeps saying AdJam is a bit annoying. The music is cool, but the bass seems absent. You can't really hear it in the song. This just seems like a huge filler track to me. But in the middle, there's a big bass solo, so I'm lost here. The bass is pretty much gone till 5 seconds in the middle of the song. This track just isn't for me, but deserves an occasional listen.

Classroom Blues is another track here. In the beginning of the song, it sounds like a reggae track. It is a reggae track. I feel a little embarrased for the band, because this is purley rediculous. The chorus is annoying and filled with the word 'Teacher'. Other than that, it's a so-so song. There were a lot of these on the album.

+++++++++++++++++++++++++

I know you're thinking "where is the bad songs section". To be honest with you, there really weren't any despisable tracks. Overall, this album is great fun. It's great backround music, if you're playing Counterstrike or something. Overall, I'd rate this album a 3.5 because a lot of the tracks we're just alright. Nothing really stood out except for the three I mentioned. Have fun with Raised On Whipped Cream because it's guaranteed to please.

3.5/5

If you neg me for my rating then I will punch you in the chest for no particular reason at all. Except for negging me of course :) -BtBp :smoke:

I have never heard of Killradio. They sound like a decent band, but the general idea you are trying to convey is well-expressed. Nice paraphrasing in the beginning.

Great review BTBP, keep doing those things in your reviews at the beggining, talking about driving and Mr. Rudd. Humanizes the review I would say.

I think a good word would be "personifies" but that's just an idea.
Eh, this isn't as good as I've come to expect from you, btbp. Your song descriptions aren't great and there's quite a few misspellings & typos. It's not bad either, I just think you've taken your foot off the pedal somewhat. :-
Mehh.

EDIT: I was only planning on writing half of this tonight, but I said 'what the hell'. Stupid stupid stupid...This Message Edited On 11.12.05

I saw these guys at a local show. It was weird seeing a band on Columbia records play at a bar but nevertheless it was a cool show. I talked to the singer while he was drunk, he's a funny guy.

How do I write a blog on my profile site BTBP for Myspace? I can't find the link anywhere. I spent a good half hour editing my info.
