Review Summary: Surprising? No.

It is always a tough task for a band to top their own classic. In most cases, bands simply can't live up to their masterpiece. It doesn't matter how hard they try. There are a few exceptions, but OOMPH! is none of them. But how could you top an album that started a whole scene? You can't. Which doesn't mean this album is bad. But what does this CD offer?

On this album, OOMPH! tried to be a whole lot edgier. And it works. The guitars are heavier, the vocals are raspier and the synths are even more creepier than the ones on the predecessor. But this time, the album has some obvious fillers on here, which drag the overall feel of the album down. Although it grooves a whole lot more and the choruses are more singable for other people, this album quickly repeats itself. It wears you off in a very, very short amount of time. Overall it's a decent listen, but nothing you can listen to the whole time.

In contrast, the lyrics reach a new point on this one. Finally the lyrics get some real good points on here, leaving more social commentary behind. This type of lyrics were to be carried on through the next albums until today. This gives the album a nice little extra edge to it.

To make a long story short:
Decent album, grandiose lyrics and good melodies.

Final point breakdown:

Music: 3/5
Lyrics: 4/5

Final score: 3,5/5

But who would have known back then that the album that would follow be one of the greatest industrial-metal releases from Germany ever?

Ice-Coffin is soooo fricking catchy. That main riff is simple but amazingly infectious, gotta love it
