Review Summary: basically, "mOral armageddOn" is a complete failure both musically and morally.
There will always be bands that refuse to get with the times, and their devotion to the past can be either admirable or frustrating. In the case of O’s
mOral armageddOn, it sounds like they didn’t know what year it was when they were recording their album. How sad, pitiful, and hilariously abysmal. Perhaps they have a tragic story about how they were accidentally sent through time into 2010 where their originally ground breaking music turned into stale crust. Or perhaps they are aliens from a distant planet who know nothing about currently acceptable music. Either way, this album sucks. Such garbage may have floated back in (insert year) but it just isn’t (insert year) anymore.
Listen closely to the lead singer, yes, closer, do it. If you’ve already followed my explicit command, you should be on the floor laughing right now. Sometimes I wonder if the singer intentionally attempted to ruin the album, but then I realize that that would take a bit of musical know-how, and O clearly has none of that. Putting no effort into his vocals, he may have followed the guideline of messiness in rock music, but vomiting all over something doesn’t suddenly make it desirable. Imagine that you have taken a lovely and sensitive girlfriend out on a first date, to a fancy restaurant. Now imagine that you vomited onto her dazzling dress from across the table. Now imagine that you took off your clothes and started wriggling in your vomit all the while yelling, “I’M A SEXY FISH!” It is a moment in your life that you will never forget, and it certainly doesn’t help that some idiot videoed the whole thing, edited it to be in slow motion, and then posted it on the internet everywhere. The album is indeed as retarded as this comparison.
Easily the worst aspect of the album is the horrifying lyrics. Just for fun, read a few excerpts from ‘Feel This’: “Lines of her mascara lined her cheeks in the floor. I was reeling from the bruises, had her tied to the door. She said, “You can give me pain but you still can’t compare”. Grabbed her by the throat I held her close in the stare”. But wait a second, let’s get to the conclusion: “I watched as pools of blood made her ilk and turn red. Still see her eyes glazed as I lay sleepless in bed”. Correct me if I’m wrong, but it seems that the lead singer is confessing a murder in this song – either that or he truly has no taste at all. The entire album is basically a testament to the singer’s brooding, depressive tendencies as captured through poor recording and boring vocals. Stay away.
