Release Date: 2010 | Tracklist

Review Summary: Craig Owens doesn't need Chiodos, Chiodos doesn't need Craig Owens. This is possibly the best release of 2010.

To be honest, I've always considered myself a bit of a Craig Owens fan boy. I loved "Bone Palace Ballet" and I loved "All's Well That Ends Well" before that. I felt upset and worried for the existence of the band when they let Craig Owens go. I'm sure you've heard that from Owen's fans before. When Brandon Bolmer was announced as the new frontman I was unsure because I'd never heard of him before. Then when the album "Illuminaudio" dropped, I picked up and took a chance. The first track "Illuminaudio" created a beautiful, eerie, yet adventurous vibe. When it ends abruptly and opens up to the next track "Caves" the chant in the beginning gives me chills. Track 3 "Love Is A Cat From Hell" was astounding. The slow ending was the icing on the cake. Modern Wolfhair's anthemic gang vocals in the beginning were insanely satisfying however the rest of the song, to me, wasn't as satisfying as the previous 3 tracks nor the first 45 seconds of this one. Track 5 "Notes In Constellations" is the first breather of the album and a spectacular one at that. It tells a tale of love and distance to the one you love. "I see her smile in her sleep, I know that she's a dreamer" is the opening line and I'd have to say my favorite. The instrumentals are phenomenal, deep and perfect for the optimistic theme and lyrics. Track 6 "Scaremonger" is a satisying track. The end ties into "His Story Repeats Itself" with the best chorus of the album. The next two tracks are great, but a bit blended I feel. Track 10 "Stratovolcano Mouth" is by far the best song on the album, a highlight of mine. Powerful instrumentals, strong lyrics about letting go. Deep emotional screams. My favorite. "Those Who Slay Together Stay Together" is my second favorite. The piano in the beginning really showed me that Chiodos was here to stay and that they haven't changed for the negative at all. "Closed Eyes Still Look forward is a beautiful end borrowing elements from the first track. Chiodos did indeed "venture into the dark" and found the torch they were looking for.

Chiodos, to everyone’s surprise, proved their name isn’t just a synonym for “Craig Owens”....

Losing Craig Owens, who was both a strength and a weakness, enabled Chiodos to progress their sound ...

Rich, glossy and engaging...

Hey welcome to the site.

first review needs a bit of work, its way too short and clumped together. and it reads like a foggy track-by-track, and seems a bit rushed.

Also, you use vague descriptions like "the chant in the beginning gives me chills" and "The slow ending was the icing on the cake", although you somewhat got it right with lines like "created a beautiful, eerie, yet adventurous vibe" and "The instrumentals are phenomenal, deep and perfect for the optimistic theme and lyrics".

It is your first, so I'll give you a pos.

As for the album in question, i never liked Chiodos from what I'd heard. This was the first full album I decided to check out because I heard it was much better, but I never cared for it either way. Just too "meh" for me, i guess

i am. it's like in a made-for-tv movie when the retarded kid tries really hard at something and even though he fails miserably everyone gets a little teary-eyed because he did his best.
