Review Summary: This is Anchors For Dreamers' first release, while it lacks in sound quality and some creativity, it still stands as a solid release with massive potential.
This is Anchors For Dreamers' first release. I was a little upset by the sound quality when i first started listening. However, I was able to put that aside and actually listen to the music. The album started off with the song I Am Yours which was a great way to start off. I Am Yours gets you warmed into the rest of the songs by starting off slow and picking up its pace to deliver a great ending.
The intro to the second song, The Future Comes Soon Enough, caught me a little off guard since it wasn't what I was expecting; it was a nice introduction for the song. After the intro has finished, you hear the song as you would have expected, nice and relaxing.
Now for the album's entitled song, Breathe. This by far was my favorite song on the entire album. The guitar work was beautifully made and the drums went perfectly with them. It was perfect when it changed from the regular guitar to the overdriven guitar. The emotions that were behind it were blown forth at that part for me, definitely being the climax of the album.
The last half of the album didn't leave a big impression on me. Intellect Does Not Make You Great, It Is Character felt like it used parts from Breathe which made me question if he realized he had done this. While Sails In The Sea started strong but felt like it ended a little too soon to be the the ending song of the album.
All in all, I felt this was a good album. I enjoyed the different emotions i felt put into each song. However, a downfall for me was that it felt a little repetitive. I was thinking to myself in some songs, "I think I heard this before." but regardless of repetitiveness, Anchors For Dreamers' first self-produced release is a solid one, that marks great potential in things that could come. Absolutely worth a listen.
