Review Summary: "Even the greatest lover of dubstep will want to throw a cat out the window after listening to this"

To make a dubstep album, you need fat beats. The kind that are so filthy that they permeate the minds of those who have not even listened to them (yes, I know that is not possible). The kind that makes your ears ring for weeks. The kind that levels the tallest buildings at only the first volume. If fat beats are spanking your tush hard, nothing else is really necessary - or so The Others thought. Sure, their murderously catchy beats might provoke even the awkwardest person to shake their booty, but no one wants to see that. Also, no one wants to listen to an album that is only comprised of loud beats, that type of music is saved for night clubs and whatnot.

Beneath the thick beats, hints of substance occasionally emerge, but then the band reconsiders and blasts the same insipid beat over and over and over. Their supposed experimentation is absolutely boring. When utilizing samples, they include a bare minimum of them, employing them at specific intervals. Spontaneity does not exist in this structure, and therefore the tracks are dull and lifeless. I can see how their minimalistic tendencies could work with proper application, but their attempts here are unimaginative, plodding, and ineffective. The EP literally gets nowhere, there are no thrills or spills, only the exact same accursed beat played for the entire obnoxiously long length of songs.

Truth be told, this EP is not as vomit-inducing as I make it out to be, it's just gruesomely wearisome. Their samples are decent enough, always sliding into songs smoothly. The problem is in their politeness, enough to work, but also enough to slip from memory. Everything in this EP has been done before, which is perhaps why it seems so trivial. The Others may have a few ideas, bot those ideas lack musical substance. Fundamentally, The Others have created something completely forgettable, a face that only a mother could love. Even the greatest lover of dubstep will want to throw a cat out the window after listening to this.

This review is actually quite spectacular, and its efficiency is near-lethal.

So I take it that a cat's orgasm isn't as long as a pig's?

This is by no means a great ep, but it's not as bad as you make it out to be
