Review Summary: An album under-rated by most, "A Toast to Bad Taste" doesn't toast to its listeners
I personally discovered this album while looking in wikipedia (pretty bad source to look for anything I know...) for some post-hardcore bands...
I consider myself lucky for having found in one day some awesome bands like Asking Alexandria, Abandon All Ships and my personal favourite of all the ones I got to know, Far-Less.
Having its own weird style of post-hardcore, Far-Less is an excellent band for you to listen to while studying or drawing, it's pretty good to train your singing also, or even to train your lyric-perception.
Technically, it's an album with great lyrics ["Gentlemen (Go To Sleep)" is a good example], full of melody like we can see in, per example, "To Give In" the final song, and even some guitar-solos that even though not being as technical or fast as any other post-hardcore band, they're pretty sweet. Talking about the lead vocalist's voice, not using voice-techniques post-hardcore fans are used to (as per example scream or even growl), he concedes to be original in tone meanwhile adequate to the style, which its lack (originality) seems to be this style's main problem.
Summarising this review, "A Toast to Bad Taste" is a breeze of fresh air on this style, so many times affected by repetitions and lack of originality.
