Release Date: 2005 | Tracklist

The newest release from the Nirvana/Metallica influenced band Seether. There was a lot of hype for The Karma & Effect album, but did it live up to the hype?

Well yes and no really, the album starts off fantastic with the heavy riffs and power vocals of "Becuase of Me", "Remedy" & "Truth". The album then slows down with argubly the best track on the album "The Gift".

But as you begin to think you may have picked up a gem from the music store the album slowly begins to slip away.

After "The Gift" a heavyish track kicks in "Burrito", but the track is a bit too predictable. But after the four great opening tracks you have to give the album a chance. After "Burrito" an unexciting and very predictable track "Given" comes on, the song is melo verse but a heavy chorus but again this sort of track has done been done before to many times.

Track 7 is called "Never Leave", again its very melo but quite a nice track not as emotional as "Given" but a nice break from the predictable heavy chorus tracks on the album, there is also some nice picking on the guitar on the song. "World Falls Apart" is then thrown in at track 8, but this track is FANTASTIC and the heavyist track on the album, great guitar work and nice vocals.
So the album seems to have picked up after the two pretictable with "Never Leave" & "World Falls Apart", so at this point I'm thinking this album is pretty darn good, but there are still 5 tracks to go, did these tracks give the album a good finarly?

Again yes and no, track 9 "Tounge" starts off very well with a melo intro/verse and then goes into a slightly heavier bridge/chorus, but again a little too predictable for my liking. A good break from the melo *** (apart from "the gift"), track 10 "I'm the one" is fast and heavier from start to end, the guitar work and vocals good extremely well together, there is also a great interlude to look out for.

"Simplist mistake" follows "I'm The one", this track really doesn't do anythin for the album, its basiacally a filler, it starts of with a heavier but Sethher don't work from this and they just throw in a verse which is quite adn boring, but the a very heavier chorus kicks which just doesn't fit with this song. "Diseased" follows, again very melo with a rocked up chorus, the song is okay but nothing special.
"Plastic man" finishes the album, AGAIN its melo and predictable.

This album culd be amazing if Seether didn't mess up after the first four tracks, its not ana amazing album but its not a memorable album, its worh your £12 or $20 (where ever you come from) because there are some good tracks on.

this review is really kind of bad, especially when compared to mine. and the last half of songs is much better than the first, but i luckily own this masterpeice (relatively speaking) that Seether has put together. This Message Edited On 12.02.06
