Element Eighty....This is an amazing band i bought this record thinking i was supporting a local band (when i lived in tyler) turns out i was supporting a signed actist this is just an amazing band they have everything a hard rock band should have...Great vocals..Good lyrics.. Moderatly good guitar.... well thats my opinion on the band....

Track by Track review:

1.Goodbye-This is a great opening song in my opinion it starts with guitar..and then you hear Dave yell "You say Goodbye" The lyrics are repetative but its a really good song to open a record with and its a perfect song to play live..3.5/5

2.Bloodshot-One of my favorite songs this song has some pretty good guitar but the chours reminds me of 'Goodbye' the lyrics are rather simple but they the vocals make up for it...4/5

3.Broken Promises-One of if not ther only well known song...i love this song..it appeared on the Need For Speed Underground soundtrack....the lyrics are again very simple but the guitar and vocals are amazing in my opinion...all out great song...4.5/5

4.Texas Cries- My all time favorite song by this band...starts of with 2 guitars that just play for 30 seconds or so and then Dave yells "Texas Cries" like most of if not all of there songs the songs repetative but this is just an amazing song the guitar drums...everything is simply amazing...5/5

5.Parachute- This is one of there heavier songs..right away the song starts out with Dave singing "HOW FAR WILL YOU GO FOR ME TILL YOU BREAK" this is a very repetative song but it is just amazing reminds me of a cross between Seether and Drowning Pool (With Dave Williams)..4/5

6.Dummy Block- This song has sort of a Alice In Chains sorta sound at the begining....its a good song vocals are great..drums and guitar couldnt be better..lyrics ar very simple but all in all a good song... 3/5

7.Scars(The Echo Song)- This song is a break up song...good song..but the damn song is the most repetative song on the record..good vocals...guitar is iffy..but drums are great...this song can get annoying if you dont like this band...very very very repetative...3.5/5

8.Slackjaw- HEAVY..Starts with great guitar and drums....simple lyrics..great vocal...very good song..one of if not the best song on this record...great sound great guitar...no other song on this record can compare.. 5/5

9.Rabies-This song starts of with either a distorted guitar or synthesizer...great song nice vocals great vocals....Kick A** bass line...you can hear the bass (if you listen carfully) the wholse song this is a great song...5/5

10.Pancake Land- Starts off with a wierd distortion then drums kick in and guitar plays normal...vocals kick in...great song...this is a pissed off song with one line repeated a few times throughout the song "If you dont like my reputation you can suck my D**ck" thinking back at it this is the heaviest song on the record...my bad.....Slackjaw is #2...5/5

11.Flatline-again starts with a weird distortion or syhtesizer...probably a distortion..you hear then Dave whistles "your under me" again simple lyrics but great song...i would recomend this song to everybody...3/5

12.Rubbertooth-The closing track simple lyrics...rather stupid..but heavy none-the less...great vocals...guitars pretty good..reminds me of underground bands...very simple lyrics but good song..2.5/5

Well I recomend this record to anybody its a great record in my opinion...

I got into Element Eighty through the Need For Speed: Underground Soundtrack and I must say that this album contains some very nice songs, but also very weird songs without any melody or rythm or something. More songs like Broken Promises or Texas Cries and this record would be excellent.

Nice Review! This Message Edited On 04.11.06

Broken Promises is alright, but I thought the rest of the album was generic and boring.

Got this from a friend today. My first impression was Korn + Slipknot + Metalcore guitar + talent.

Not sure about my 4 though, It'll probably go down to 3.5This Message Edited On 03.07.07

It's a pretty good song, but I'd say these are the best:

-Texas Cries

-Bloodshot

-Rabies

-Pancake Land (probably my favorite, but only by a bit)

If it weren't for Rubbertooth, I might have given this a 5, but I do tend to overrate albums.

EDIT: And 'The Bear' is a pretty good CD, not as heavy as this, but it's got a slightly different feel to it.This Message Edited On 06.12.07

Kick ass album, but I feel like this album is a bit overproduced.

That's why I prefer Mercuric, their previous release. In that album there are more raw versions of Bloodshot, Flatline and Pancake Land (this one was even cut in s/t!). And the few original ones, well, pretty amazing stuff! This Message Edited On 12.12.07

You say this cd has good lyrics yet on almost every song by song review you say the lyrics are very simple. The fact is, yes the lyrics are very simple and not very good at all. The good thing about this band is the guitarist. He writes some nice riffs and is a pro at the squealing pinch harmonics.
