Hello this is my first review so give me some feedback
Morning view was incubus' 4th album ,and definately one of their best. It was released in the fall 2001 and had major success on popular radio stations. "wish you were here" " nice to know you" and 'warning" became radio hits. This is a unique album for incubus because it is probably there mellowest album yet. There are several heavier songs on here but for the most part it is pretty soft.( its not a bad thing) Ok enough intro heres the review:
tracklist:
1. nice to know you
2. circles
3.wish you were here
4. just a phase
5. 11 am
6. blood on the ground
7. mexico

9. echo
10.have you ever
11.are you in?
12. under my umbrella
13.aqueous transmission
the band:
brandon boyd:vocals
mike einziger: guitar
dirk lance: bass
chris kilmore: turntables

My song rating scale:
5- awesome song,i would definately recommend to any fan of this genre
4- Great song, i would probably recommend
3- ok song, if you arent a fan of the band dont bother
2- not so good
1- horrible
-nice to know you- Awesome opener to the album. Starts with some weird noises and a cool drum beat then the heavy distorted guitar comes in. I love the chorus. 5/5
-Circles- Starts with a distorted riff then the bass and drums come in. The bass is really good in this song. The lyrics are also good. [" Hey what would it mean to you to know that it'll come back around again hey whatever it means to you know that everything moves in circles"]. 4/5
-wish you were here- You should recognize this song if you listen to any rock radio stations. The opening guitar chords are very recognizable. The verses are very relaxing and the chorus rocks. Brandon said," This song is a simple and straightforward ditty about the beauty of a moment in paradise." Its true. 5./5
-just a phase- THis is the second longest song on the album at 5:31. For awhile i disliked this song because of the long intro which is just acoustic guitar and brandon moaning. But once you get past that part it is a great song.It builds up energy until the last minute, when it explodes with distorted guitar and brandon yelling. Good ending. 4/5
-11 am- Cool guitar intro, very fun to play. One of the mellower songs on the album, its really relaxing actually. THe vocals are my favorite part of this song. 4/5
-blood on the ground- Starts of with just brandon singing: " I don't want to talk to you anymore I'm afraid of what I might say I bite my tongue everytime you come around Cause blood in my mouth beats blood on the ground" Then the band comes in with some cool distorted music. The verse is almost raplike which is interesting. Average song nothing special 3/5
-mexico- THis is an entirely acoustic song with just mike and brandon. Softest song on the album. It is ok but i wouldnt recommend it to a non incubus fan. 2.5/5
-warning- You have probably heard this song or seen the video. This is a great song. The vocals are amazing, probably my favorite on the album.THe lyrics are very good, about someone who realizes that life has "passed them by". 5/5
-echo- Very mellow song with clean guitar and light drumming. I like the guitar in the intro and chorus but the song is overall just ok. 3/5
-have you ever- Nice intro with an awesome bassline.Very good vocal performance by brandon. Every one is good in this song but id say the bass is my favorite part is the bass. Great song. 4.5/5
-are you in- This song is incredible. It is one of the best on the album. It starts with a cool drum beat and a sick bassline. It is a very relaxed song and just gives you a good feeling when you listen to it. Nice guitar solo after the first chorus. (By the way this song is amazing live. Its on the cd that comes with the REd rocks dvd.) 5/5
-under my umbrella- wow... this song goes back to the heavier side of the album with an incredible guitar intro/chorus.Phenomanal vocals, especially in the chorus.5/5
-Aquesous transmission- This is the longest song on the album at 7:46. Id have to say that this is the most unique song incubus has ever recorded(maybe with the exception of magic medicine from science). In this song an instrument called the Ko-Kyu is used throughout the song with a very unique sound.(the ko-kyu was acctually given to them by steve vai, according to brandon boyd). This is a very peacefull song. 4/5
OK so thats the track by track. I am going to find the average of all the scores now and that will be my rating.
Album rating- 4/5
This is one of incubus' best albums probably only after make yourself or science. I would definately recommend this to any fan of alternative rock or incubus. You wont be dissapointed. ( unless you are a hardcore fan of incubus' old stuff)
feedback is appreciated
