Review Summary: From sweep picking to two-hand tapping bass fills this album has just about everything you could want and then some. As Vai once said, "Kill the guy with the ball, ice pick in the forehead, rip off your head and shit in the hole; but all with a smile." Pa
Steve Vai's "Passion And Warfare" is a true show of technical brilliance, deep levels of compositional skills, and true musical inspiration. From the nearly orchestral and highly patriotic tune "Liberty" to Steve's signature song "For The Love Of God" this album is full of every emotion one can express.
Some songs seem to have been written purely for the fun of playing them, such as "Greasy Kid's Stuff," an up tempoed song build around a nice melody and a sweet guitar tone. Yet at the same time, the tune "Blue Powder" seems to convey a series of emotiona better left for the music to display. Words can't describe everything.
Steve has a true passion for his music, and you can truly feel his love in each measure of this beautiful album. Whether Vai is jamming to a rock powerhouse such as "Erotic Nightmare" or pouring his heart out on an acoustic ("Sisters") each song has it's on unique feel and story.
This album is a true masterpiece and a must for anyone guitarist or anyone who just enjoys a good tune to hum.
