Band: Brand New
Album: The Holiday EP
Released: December 15, 2003

I know this EP is a rarity for any Brand New fan. Only 1000 (I got my numbers mixed up in the PP forum) were ever made, and only available to Brand New Street Team members. Further more, the EP was free and the only thing the fans had to pay for was shipping. This resulted in the 1000 CDs being sold in around 1 hour! Nevertheless, I managed to find a copy on eBay and jumped on the chance to get it. I don't regret buying it, as it is an amazing EP.

The Boy Who Blocked His Own Shot (Acoustic) - 9/10
My favourite song off the 2003 sophomore album Deja Entendi as an acoustic! What more could I want? The lyrical value of this song shows it's very close to Jesse, and the acoustic guitar adds to the feeling the song gives off. A great acoustic version of a great electric song!

Logan To Government Center (Demo) - 7/10
Not the most attractive song off Your Favourite Weapon, Brand New's debut album, but still a good song to listen to. I have to say the demo version is better than the original, it is more raw and energetic, but the original is fine. A nice song to listen to, but it doesn't stand out.

The Quiet Things That No One Ever Knows (Acoustic) - 9/10
This is a great acoustic version of the hit from Deja Entendu. The acoustic version suits the song, and with 2 guitars instead of 1, as in TBWBHOS, it works better. The intro is so melodic, and the song itself is smooth and sad. It seems Brand New are made for acoustics!

Good To Know That If I Ever Need Attention All I Have To Do Is Die(Demo) - 7/10
A lot like the original song. It stands out, as it is another classic Brand New song, but the demo doesn't differ much from the original. I have a demo of Jude Law, which would've been better to put on, but this is filler in my opinion. It only gets a 7 cos the song rocks!

Oh Holy Night - 8/10
A scary song. Seriously, I listen to this and get chills. Jesse has taken the original Christmas classic, gone acoustic again and made an eerie Christmas song, which I can see kids running away from. Jesse's vocals in this are frightening, sounding very deep and low. The song itself also has scary-sounding riffs and occasional sound effects, adding to the weirdness. A great song though, Brand New's cover is a classic.

So if you are one of the 1000 like me who own this EP, you will know how this EP sounds. It isn't anything special; no new songs. But it is definatly a collectors item, and something all major Brand New fans should own. If you don't own this, then somehow listen to this. You will be amazed at Brand New's talents for acoustic songs. The demos aren't what I got this for, it's the acoustics I wanted to hear. And I was impressed. I will give this 4 smiley faces out of 5

As I log onto ebay...

Amen on "The Boy Who Blocked His Own Shot." Did you see them perform it on Fuse a little while ago? Good, good stuff.

Would I like this band? I'm not a huge fan of pop punk, but I love Weezer and I like the new blink 182 cd.

Would anybody be willing to sell a burned copy of "The Holiday EP"? I'm a huge Brand New fan, but don't have Kazaa or anything and have no way to hear these songs.

If any one has this that is willing to trade me some songs over the good ol' AIM i am dying to hear it. I would be willing to trade like 9 billion songs for the 5 on the ep.

My screen name is: NickPappageorgs
