Review Summary: This is a very good album. Everyone go get it. i got the leaked version. lol.
We all know Travie Mccoy from the band Gym Class Heroes. My first thought when someone said that he was going to make a solo album was "oh man he is going to sell out" But he holds up his own with the album " Lazarus". He shows off his talent as a singer and rapper. His use of metaphors and quirky sayings never cease to amaze me. The single "Billionaire" ft Bruno Mars is a very good track of the wishes alot of people have but really don't have the ability to put it in song. Alot of rappers these days don't really rap about anything us as an audience can relate to but Travie does an excellent job at becomng one with the listener. He is an excellent musician alone without the backing of Gym Class Heroes which is something he shows on this album. The one thing that threw me off was his almost non-use of profane language. That threw me for a loop. If you have ever seen GCH you would know that profanity is Travies second language. But he makes the album only family friendly by cutting back on the number of F-bombs he uses. But what really impressed me was his singing. His singing sounds like if he wanted a seperate career singing....he could do it. He dealt with some semi-heavy topics about things the common person can go through including money problems, their wishes and dreams, and my all time favorite RELATIONSHIP PROBLEMS! With that mentioned "Dont Pretend" is a very good track after a brutal breakup or an argument with the significant other. "open up my chest and you will see a cold cavity where my heart used to be"....if you have ever felt that way, remember Travie has too. This album overall has a song for every mood you are in and has the ability to put you in a good mood. it has rock, rap, blues, acoustic. everything. get this album. it is totally worth it. I am very excited to see what he is going to do in the future.
