[}Disturbed - Ten Thousand Fists{]
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
01. Ten Thousand Fists (3:32)
This song is fueled by pure energy. Starts with an interesting electronic beat and then kicks straight to the drums. Its a pretty solid song all the way through. A pretty interesting guitar solo around 2:14. You can see most of his vocal talent here in the chorus of the song. Drumming is excellent all the way through and the guitars are true Disturbed style.
4/5
02. Just Stop (3:43)
This is considerably softer than the first song, but not the ballad on the album. It just turns it down a notch. After a really hard, enegertic song, it kinda turns the mood off. Not a bad song, just badly placed. The vocals dont shine so brightly in this one either, but it is a very smooth melody-wise. Nothing really spectacular in this song.
3.5/5
03. Guarded (3:20)
Now we're talking. This kicks into an extremely badass guitar intro and the lyrics kick straight in. The drums are incredible in backing up the fast pacing of the guitars. Dave's vocal talents are definately apparent in this song. It gets a little slower, but definately not soft, around two-and-a-half minutes into it. Definately one of the strongest tracks on the album.
4.5/5
04. Diefy (4:37)
Oh dear. A political song. It opens with the prez talkin about the strength of our country. This is a strong Anti-Bush song. "You're no immortal, I won't let them deify you." Is probably the line that spills the song's guts right there. A slower song than the rest of the album, but it is definately one of the more meaningful one.
3.8/5
05. Stricken (4:04)
What an amazing song. The vocals are unbelievable. From what i've gathered, I believe the song is about still being in love with someone after they left you; "That I am stricken and cant let you go" The guitars are fantastic harmonizing Davids voice. The drums arent the best in this song, but they dont need to be much better, they're that damn good. The bass is incredible, and the song is definately the one that people will buy the album for.
5/5
06. I'm Alive (4:40)
One of the catchiest choruses on the album. Its a good song about being alive and living while you're alive. David is pretty much saying that "while im alive, you wont stand in my way of what i want to do." A solid song with a good chorus. Excellent guitar work, the drums are fantastic, and the bass in the chorus is incredible. A very solid song. Nice placement on the album too.
4/5
07. Sons of Plunder (3:32)
Not my favorite song. Its a rocker all the way, but the same generic sound is getting old. It has a nice feel throughout and the vocals are yet again, fantastic. The song is about how music has gotten past wanting to get your voice out there and more about getting your voice heard. Literally. Its about how people just want to be famous. Great song, just a little too much like the rest.
3.9/5
08. Overburdened (5:57)
The slower song on the track. The "Ballad" if you will. This song is great on so many levels. It begins with a few plucks on the guitar. The bass truely shines in this song. Davids vocals are the best here IMO since stricken. Its about (from gathered info, not confirmed tho) a man who is sent to hell after death and feels he doesnt belong there. "Fate is so unkind." It is my second favorite track on the album and a definate recommendation.
5/5
09. Decadence (3:24)
After the first half of the album and especially after a 5/5, this song seems like a filler. It is in classic disturbed style. Just seems a little poorly done. Not one of my recommendations from this album.
2.5/5
10. Forgiven (4:12)
Begins with David muttering "Forgiven to me" a lot. Then it kicks into the guitar riff (a nice one i may add). Its a pretty good song. Not up to par with "Ten Thousand Fists" and "Stricken", but its still good nonetheless. The main reason i like this song is that the music and vocal mix is very solid. Daves vocals are very nice in this song. Not much else to say.
3.5/5
11. Land of Confusion (4:48)
What a great title for a song so different than the rest of the album. This song is a cover from "Genesis - Land of Confusion". And its a pretty good one. It definately changes the mood of the album. The rest of the album is hard metal and pure energy and then we get to a classic rock sound??? Alright... Still its a good song, a good cover, and a that combo leads to a good rating.
4/5
12. Sacred Life (3:05)
Remember "The Game" and how techno the intro was? Well, this follows in its footsteps. This is a pretty solid song. But like i said, the intro makes you feel like you're playing F-Zero or Wipeout. The rest of the song is pure rock and roll. Excellent vocals and the drum fills are superb. The guitar is something worth mentioning in this song. Fantastic job. One of the highlights of the album and definately the second half of the album, since its been a little shaky."
4/5
13. Pain Redefined (4:06)
Another generic Disturbed song. Yet again, its disturbed so its not a bad song, just a little too much like the rest of them. Its probably about a guy whos girlfriend just left him for no reason and he feels the heartache, hence "Pain Redefined" Nothing spectacular with any of the instruments here. Same with the vocals. Just your average song from a great band.
3/5
14. Avarice (2:54)
Not the best ending to a great album. The vocals are par right along with the instruments. In fact it is a really dissapointing ending to an album. Its a sub-par song. Plain and simple. I cant really think of much else to say. Kinda dissapointed. But this doesnt affect the integrity of the rest of the album.
2.5/5
