Release Date: 2002 | Tracklist

Having lost drummer Jon Lee to suicide, Feeder intended to split and take their money. However, Lee's family insisted that they should carry on, however, his death clearly changed Grant Nicholas' writing style.

1) Just the way I'm feeling. The first single released off the album was surprising to any old Feeder fans- it was a different, softer sound than any of their older music. However, this pop song had a good riff and had clearly been taken time over. An orchestra can be heard early on, with Grant hitting the peak of his vocals. 5/5

2) Come back around. A slightly faster song again with quite simple guitar work. The majority of the song is made up of a low drum beat. Little variation with vocals and bass cannot be distinguised too well. 3/5

3) Helium. Beginning with a highly distortion guitar (playing the Feeder favourites, power chords) and a little later enters vocals clearly and annoyingly distorted by some crappy computer program. No variation in vocals throughout the whole song and quite boring guitar work. Nothing special on bass either. 2/5

4) Child in you. Again, a strange Feeder sound, but nothing different to what was emerging towards the end of 'Echo Park'. Slow drums and quiet vocals, and no heavy guitar chords being played, but instead chords being picked. Sounds quite good at first but bores quickly. 3/5

5) Comfort in sound. An appeasing title track, starting off slowly, but interesting vocals, and finally by the time the chorus is reached (after a good drum fill) the power chords kick in. A good guitar solo at the end with a long scream in the background, fitting in well. 4/5

6) Forget about tomorrow. In my opinion, this is the best track on the album, which after listening to Buck Rogers you wouldn't assosciate with Feeder at all. Kicking in with an orchestra and guitar, Grant's lyrics are heartfelt and reflect the bands feeling when facing what lies ahead after Lee's death. A soothing chorus with relaxed guitar and vocals, and a good audible bass line. Feeder at their prime again. 5/5

7) Summer's gone. The point where, in every album, the songs become boring and unoriginal. Quite a heavy chorus with good vocals and guitar but simply a boring drony verse. A boring drum beat and unimaginative chords sequence. 2/5

8) Godzilla. Highly distorted guitar to start with, before an upbeat drum and bass come in, at which point the vocals come in and spoil the song. They aren't bad, but they aren't as good as the rest of the music. Most of this song is instrumental, and sounds alot like a Feeder jam than a recorded song. 3/5

9) Quick fade. Another song where the lyrics are about all that makes the song interesting. A slow drum beat and incredibly boring guitars make this song the worst on the album. Quite rubbish bass line and generally has an empty feeling about it. 2/5

10) Find the colour. An enlightening and uplifting melody, with a good guitar riff and quick snappy vocals. Unusual lyrics but a good variation of verse and chorus and a good long solo about half way through. Good ending too, with the guitar riff repeating itself over.

11) Love pollution. A slow boring ballad with no appeal at all. Bad lyrics and no variation throughout the whole song. Lack of creativity with the drumming and the orchestra can't even make up for this. Depressing and drony vocals make this song uninteresting and not worth a second listen. 2/5

12) Moonshine. A great ending, as the album has been getting, er, softer, as it goes on. A happy and cheerful song with the main criticism being too long, therefore boring eventually. A repeated guitar part throughout the whole song, but great chorus vocals which are consistent and well thought out. A happy ending, if you like. 3/5

Overall, an easy-listening album, not for fans of their old heavier stuff. However, it doesn't seem like there is no hope for Feeder- there are good songs which go back to their old roots. Not really worth the full amount, but if in the sales, you know ;).

Cleaned the comments up as they'd degenerated really rather badly. This is an OK album. Not as good as Echo Park, but solid enough.
