Review Summary: I give this album a fair three out of five in the long run. If the band had different ideas in comparison to what they wrote then I believe they can do so much more than they already are.

I thought that since this is my first review that I would open up on Roadrunner Records new boys Mutiny Within. The opening track "Awake" shows promise for this album along with a more original sound. The song is chocked full of chunky riffs that keep the common guitar fan guessing, fantastic vocals using less metal screams (in comparison to most conventional metal bands that is) and interesting guitar meets keyboard harmonies even if after a while it does just look like our lead guitarist is just showing off how good he is pulling off sweep picking/tapping solo's. Unfortunately this one song doesnt prepare the listener for the rest of the album as each track is more predictable than the opening track and doesnt show as much promise or originality. In essence it basically sounds like either Killswitch Engage or All That Remains with a different singer. Excluding the first track once you've heard one song off this album you've heard them all. From my personal point of view I believe in most of the songs there is too much guitar work such as overkill on guitar solo harmonies, honestly it gets boring after a while and they don't perform them live anyway.

For me this album was a disapointment but kept me entertained for something new to listen to so I give the album a 3 in the long run. Don't get me wrong though if you just like listening to metal and don't have any wish to pursue other interesting aspects of music then this album is for you. However for the more exploritive music fan I'd give it a miss unless you'd rather hear it for yourself (excluding the first track though because in fairness it is pretty awesome)

Anyway this concludes my first review. Of course I'm open to feedback, but then again like anyone on this site has a choice. I am in no way an english student so don't be a d*ck about my spelling or punctuation or whatever the hell.

oooh and just to clear the air, something I forgot to mention in the review. I'm not saying their musically incapable of creating a good sounding album, each member has clearly done their homework. I'm obsessed with the song Awake, but I guess I just didn't like the ideas used on the rest of the album.
