Review Summary: Cancer Bats show their worth.

There are certain albums where, upon first listen, it is instantly apparent that the band have upped their game by a considerable way. And with Bears, Mayors, Scraps and Bones, Cancer Bats have delivered this.

2008’s Hail Destroyer was a fun listen, bridging the gap between Hatebreed and Gallows to serve up twelve tracks of metallic punk fury, yet ultimately suffered from a number of forgettable songs. Bears… remedies this in spectacular fashion, giving us a varied album that takes in everything from Slayer to Every Time I Die in its song writing, yet still retaining the signature Cancer Bats snarl. From the sludge infused, Down-esque riffing of opener Sleep This Away to the titanic grooves of Darkness, every track aims to pummel the listener with its intensity, whether it be through full throttle power or crushing grooves. And all the while over top of this, singer Liam Cormier spits his vocals with an infectious cocky swagger, delivering with a charismatic drawl second only to Keith Buckley, and with a genuine, sincere integrity. Ending it all, their raging take on the Beastie Boy's Sabotage is just the icing on the cake.

Cancer Bats have established with Bears, Mayors, Scraps and Bones the devastating musical muscle that they are truly capable of, blending their ferocious punk attitude and metal might to create an album with enough force to raze cities to the ground.

A decent attempt to branch out is somewhat marred by an excess of filler....

Just plain fun....

Thanks alot dude. Mabye I'll add some more to it later, as everyone seems to want it a bit longer. But I'm sure I've seen some other reviews about this size that were well received so I thought I would post it.

I know theres no minimum to what you should write but for me this is too short. What you have written is good though, and I need to check this out.

I was looking forward to someone writing a review on this and here it is, I know it's short and not what I expected but overall its a good summary on the album. Cool.

So do you guys think it is worthwhile me adding to the review? I think I have managed to say all that I wanted to, I'm pretty pleased with the review even though it is short. Anything I would add would be more examples of things I have already mentioned.

What you wrote is brief and to the point, it's short and sweet. At least it isn't garbage like alot of people write. It will do untill a proper write up get's done.

Yo TBliss, I wrote something similar to your review for Bruce Dickinson's Alive compilation on this site (which I added) and I got slated for it saying what a really bad review and LOADS of other stuff so I got what I wrote and put it into the shoutbox instead and the review got removed. Go and have a look, type in Bruce Dickinson and then click on Alive and you will see what I wrote in the shoutbox.

Ahh thats cool man, but I think I'll leave this as it is. If a staff reviewer has pos'd it then it cant have too much wrong with it really.

The thing is though, my review did get approved by a staff member and it was on the homepage and everything. It got removed because of all the arguing and critiscism that was going on and some dude wrote to a staff member and requested that the review be taken off.

So after it got removed, I just went and posted the review into the shoutbox. What you see in the shoutbox is the review that I posted.
