Review Summary: A super fun time.
Zoolander is a great movie. One of my favorites of all time, one that makes me laugh when I need it most. Sure it's a little on the cheesy side and deals with male models who lack the intelligence to operate a basic computer and lack trivial thinking skills. But as a matter of fact try to think of anything at all while Derek Zoolander (Ben Stiller) stares down your ugly mug with his famed
Magnum poise. I can't, my heart nearly stops every time I see it because Zoolander is much more than a movie, it's learning about who you are, becoming comfortable with what makes us unique. Self discovery in the most passionate form. The soundtrack simply adds to the enjoyability.
Launching off with super catchy electro pop track,
Start the Commotion by
The Wiseguys you know you're in for a sugary treat. In fact I'm listening to it right now and the
bop bop bops make me want to get up and well.. start some commotion!
Relax by
Frankie Goes to Hollywood only intensifies my gleeful mood. By the time the wonderful chorus kicks in I'm positively bubbling!:
Relax! don't do it
when you wanna suck it to it
relax don't do it
when you want to come
come oh oh oh!
Call Me by
Nikka Costa makes me want to rush to the phone just so I can get some friends in on all this fun! Every track on this compilation is a ultra catchy super hit just waiting to be swallowed up by the masses. Not liking such joyous tracks like
Love to Love You Baby by the famed
No Doubt probably means you like to kick kittens or something like that I mean this is music we need to start employing in our prison systems, this would be a super fun yet productive time and probably stop lots of murders too. If you thought the fun was even a fraction of the way over then let me share the bombastic
Wake Me Up Before You Go Go. Nothing else quite makes me want to hang out with some friends and play twister all night quite like this. There really isn't a way to be gloomy while basking in this wonderful soundtrack. It's like the jitterbugs just crawled in my pants and I can't help but giggle! Then comes
Beat It (we all know this one of course!) only this time it's remixed by techno godfather Moby. Now it's time to show off our dancing skills and get down on some robot moves!
Faces by
Orgy puts this seemingly harmless fun basket into all out attack mode. If you think all models have it easy then check out these lyrics:
You're slipping in and out of time, who are you to decide
which one of us winds up broken for a lifetime
and still you'll never be satified until one of us falls apart
I've had enough of this
That's not to say the track isn't fitting but it does show the grittier side of the modeling business. If you haven't gotten up off your feet by now then your legs must be broken and you're hands are waving twice as fast to make up for it. So you think that there isn't a cure for depression? Well then toss out your Zoloft and razorblades, throw down your twister mat and pop in this soundtrack.
