Review Summary: another great album form the perils

Summary: Twin perils deliver an excellent album with minor flaws

Twin Perils. A rap group that may someday become big in the world of underground rap music. This cd is made by a group which consists of The Lone Ninja and June Marx a.k.a "The Marxman". Both rappers are very incredible at what they do and you can really tell they focus on their songwriting abilities. Enough of my ranting, let the album review begin.

As many of you know by now, i have reviewed The Lone Ninja before. I have praised him but i have never given any love to his partner-in-rhyme, June Marx. June has a more defined and less monotone voice than Ninja but it doesn't keep him from getting the lost in the raps. The man is a sharp lyricist, with a smooth flow and some parts that make you want to rap along. Lyrics such as,

[qoute]I'm in the armory plotting better
Ways to sever thoughts of harming me for whatever
The infinite reason
effortless shift the season
Desperate grip the freedom
dump you in artic
Snow region harshest flow breathing
it's the darkest Throne speaking
unfold the mother***ing teaching[/qoute]

are all June. (interesting fact; he was in iraq for two years). the man has a sick flow too. Lone ninja is still monotone(which i dig) but on his solo album "Burnt Sector" the beats, while amazing, didn't fit his voice very well. The beats are produced by the Marxman this time around ad they come off as a RZA-meets-Just Blaze with a hint of modern day Dr. Dre in there. Also, Jne And Ninja compliment each other well and could very well be the next perfect rap duo.

My main problem with the album is that the songs are too short. They all range around 2-3 minutes and the album has a Mix-tape feel throughout. Sometimes that makes the songs blend together. If you didn't like lone ninjas rhmes before, then you might like this a little more than his solo records due to the presence of marx.

I overall dug this album, and i recieved as a free cd from The Lone Ninja himself. It is very good for what it is but it may not appeal to some

pros (+)
+ Amazing lyrics and raps
+ June Marx and the Lone Ninja
+Great songwriting

cons (-)
-mixtape feel/ songs short
-if you didn't like it before, this won't really change your mind

Killer tracks:
waterfalls of blood
birth of assassins
zatoichi
liquid maneuvers

Yeah it's like your alone.. talking to a pack of Camel's in a neverending thread and when you look up at the flickering screen you realize that you're really alone and that you always have been. You never get used to it, I know.
