Review Summary: Balance And Composure put out 4 songs that set this new band up to be a most welcome addition to the music world.

Balance And Composure are one of the newest bands breaking into the alternative/indie/emo/post-hardcore genre, and without a doubt the most promising. On their 4-song EP "Only Boundaries", the band comes out swinging and never let up the entire way through. This EP clocks in at around 18 minutes, which is just long enough for the band to showcase their ability as musicians (and damn is it good), but short enough to leave you craving even more from these guys. All 4 songs are masterpieces, each with their own distinct flavor and style, but each intertwined perfectly with one another.

You're not going to find anything ground breaking on this EP, and of course as an EP, there's not enough content to throw a 4.5 or a 5 at this thing. However, there is plenty of evidence that a full length record by Balance And Composure could quite easily score either, especially if this formula is tweaked and perfected before hand. I have listened to this EP extensively since I downloaded it earlier this week, and I can honestly say I cannot find any flaws worth noting...if you're a fan of what bands like Brand New, and mewithoutYou have been doing with this style of music, there's no reason to think you will dislike anything on this EP.

I highly recommend getting your hands on this, it's definitely a great little addition to your music collection, and should (like it did to me) get you pumped for a full-length in the near future...these guys have all the talent and if they keep this going, they are going to be quite successful for a long time to come.

First ever review, this band wasn't on here and figured I'd write up a quick review for this great EP.

While it doesn't match their outstanding debut EP 'I Just Want To Be Pure', Balance and Composure have solidified their promising status on 2nd EP 'Only Boundaries'. At 4 tracks over 18 minutes, the Pennsylvanian quintet display more of their emo'ish blend of indie & post-hardcore, even if it's a little more conventional this time. Fastidious song structures built around atmospheric guitar-work provide some great build-ups, while the dual vocals & affecting lyrics create genuine emotional intensity. The fact that this band remind of Brand New should be enough of a compliment on its own. Recommended Tracks: Only Boundaries & Show Your Face.
