Review Summary: A light hearted, fun listen. Don't expect anything other than hooks and one liners and lyrics full of money-driven attitude and shallow feelings (which CIWWAF are so proud to posess)

I burned this CD from my friend's library a while back, but never actually listened to it. Anyways recently i decided to check it out, and was pleasantly surprised. The band is not anything revolutionary, and they kind of blend in with all the other pop punk acts out there, but i guess you pick and choose which ones you listen to only because you just can't listen to them all. I chose to be a CIWWAF fan just because of the attitude they have in their songs. "you are a sell out but you couldn't even do that right" for example, represents the harsh lyrics in this album, which seem to be directed at the spoiled rich kids who listen to this kind of music in the first place. In any case, here we go.

Newport Living 5/5- I don't know why they would start off their first song on their debut album showcasing what is possibly the weakest part of their sound- Shaant's singing voice. For some reason, though, the lyrics and the tempo just make this song carry a badass sound that makes you want to punch that annoying kid from high school who's parents bought them the most expensive car in the entire parking lot. The lyrics are pure genius, laced with attitude and accusation. Chorus is catchy as can be.

There's A Class For This 4/5- "drama doesn't follow me it rides on my back" is the perfect way to say "i'm rich, bitch, and i have a lot of unnecessary drama that i secretly like to deal with." That's how i interpret it anyways. That theme continues throughout the whole album though. This song deals hook after hook and keeps you singing along.

Finger Twist and Split 3/5- not as good as the first two songs, but the lyrics, again, are interestingly blunt. They obviously dont try to hide their song meanings in a cloak of metaphors and analagies. It's a good listen, but not a standout.

Risque 3.5/5- The music in this song is a tad lackluster, but the singing melodies work well with it. A little slow, but at least it has that irresistable singalong chorus that Cute is known for.

Sweat the Battle Before the Battle Sweats You 3/5- I didn't know what to give this song, because some parts of it are really good and some lyrics are really clever, but other parts are rather boring and cliche sounding.

The Fourth Drink Instinct 4/5- This song should be played to those girls who party nonstop hoping to find the perfect guy through beer goggles. Great message and decent music.

Sweet Talk 101 3.5- Shaant says the word "gent" a lot.... this song is good, nothing special.

Curse of Curves 5/5- BEST song on the album. Everything about this song oozes attitude, catchiness, drama, and CIWWAF. "it seems unhip to keep a tight lip and you're on the gossip team" This song is just fantastic.

I Put the Metro in Metronome 4/5- Good followup to Curse of Curves. The chorus is super catchy and the verse is not far behind.

Lyrical Lies 2/5- The acoustic thing doesn't really work for this band, but i suppose its worth a shot on their first album. The lyrics are the only good part of this song though, the rest is boring.

Moan 4/5- The most dancable song on the album. I'd like to hear a techno remix.

Teasing to Please 3/5- This song is ok. It's the only one on the album with a 3/4 tempo.

You might want to spend a little bit more time editing next time, and your descriptions for the tracks were pretty sparse for a tbt, but its a good start.

Ill pos.

Ok. Problems.
1) LEARN TO USE A GODDAMN SHIFT KEY!
2) From this review I have learned very little about the songs and what they sound like, although I do know that the band has a prissy bitch attitude and can't use mature themes within their music.

Band is just eew.. No joke.

But on a sidenote, what you say in your first paragraph sounds curious. Why would they be deliberately alienating their fanbase? Wouldn't they want someone to buy their music so they don't have to end up working the 9 to 5? Explain.

That really tells me shit all about what the song sound's like. This is really horrible review. You
really need to put some more effort in editing your writing. First couple of paragraphs are average,
but it just gets worse from there.

I don't understand why you would give this a 2 if you enjoyed it. But ok.
