3 Inches of Blood: - Cam Pipes; Shane Clark - guitar; Jamie Hooper - vocals; Justin Hagberg - guitar; Brian Redman - bass; Matt Wood - drums.
"Advance & Vanquish" is a thrilling combination of Iron Maiden riffery, Rob Halford style vocals and songs that race along at a gallop, never seeming to run out of breath. It's old school metal brought into the modern world and, like the warriors on its cover, it kicks a lot of ass.
Vocalists Jamie Hooper and Cam Pipes (I just report it folks, I don't make it up) shriek like rock'n'roll banshees, bringing to mind the work of the aforementioned Halford, Accept's Udo Dirkschneider and Cradle of Filth's Dani Filth, with a little of The Darkness's Justin Hayward thrown in for good measure. The dual guitar attack of Shane Clark and Justin Hagberg emulates the great old school metal of the past ... but with a little more speed and intensity bringing additional fire to the mix.
Lyrically, the songs are epic tunes with warrior themes, and they're really not anything you haven't heard before. Track #2, however, "Deadly Sinners," is a killer anthem that will have listeners pumping their fists in the air.
Don't let the references to old school metal here confuse you. Even with its nods to veteran metal kings, "Advance and Vanquish" rocks with a modern ferocity. This stuff would kill live and I can't wait to see the band on stage.

The music is pretty cool, but I can't get over the cheesy lryics.
Good review and appropriate rating.

It's kind of cool but once you get past the old meets new school thing they have going on they aren't very good.
| | | Somewhere along the way, it was decided that Manowar wasn't cheesy enough, so that's where this band comes in. They could have almost gotten away with it if they released this album in 1985, but I think we've caught on to them by now.
| | | It is not possible to go into Hot Topic and not hear this. Thus it has become Hot Topic metal. (Hot Topic) A Store that sells band shirts and black clothes.

This held my interest for about 20 minutes and past "Deadly Sinners" the album is awful.

I'm sorry, but 3IB kicks some major ass. Awesome riffs, awesome vocals, awesomely horrible lyrics. What isn't there to love? I mean come on, listen to Wykydtron and not embark on a gleefull head banging session, I dare you. Bad ass. I've seen them live and even got to scream in the mic, trust me, they absolutley shred live.

Man, I love this album!
3IOB are awesome, I need to see them live!
| | | The screaming vocalist is good, the other one with the high-pitched sux. Though their music is good.
